Super Radio Network

I heard the same thing passing through there about 2 years ago. Sounded like an old analogue Optimod in need of a recap. Excessive sibilants in the quieter channel too.

With Mark Levy announced as 2GB’s new Mornings announcer, the ball is in SRN’s court.

Let’s hope it’s another amazing surprise like they’ve done so far this past week.

Industry rumours that Jason Morrison was offered an award wage and turned it down.

I’m reading it’ll be Chris Smith.

The Broadcasting Award is a great example of the horrors of compounding when it runs in reverse: the award never got CPI increases from mid-90’s through well past 2000 and other awards which did get CPI during that period now pay far better. At the current rate all pay scales in the Broadcasting Award will end up the same soon - the minimum hourly rate at Fair Work which has been getting CPI for decades ($23/hr at present).

So… Laws’ replacement is to be announced likely this Friday.

Who are your predictions?

My front-runners are Jason Morrison or Chris Smith.

Would many “on-air talent” at non-regional stations be employed on the award wages alone?

We seem to have lowered ourselves to the bottom of the chum bucket if we have to speak ill of the dead.

So it’s a sin to speak the truth is it?

Truth or not, it is very poor form to speak ill of someone, especially when they cannot be given a chance to defend themselves, in this case, they are deceased. At the end of the day, this person still has a family, whom I’m sure loved him and are hurting at their loss and would be absolutely seething if they were to read these comments, which are on a public forum, where people are trashing him. I, unfortunately, have been in the position where someone that I know decided to say something horrible about an immediate family member of mine, who had passed away. How did I feel? No prizes for guessing. You are all better than this and might I suggest if you have nothing good to say about dead people, keep your pie holes shut.

Simply avoid judgement in death by not being a bad person in life. It’s not hard.

This was very much one of the reasons it never happened, the clause usually includes at least a year.

There are components of networking used especially on 2BS these days, but it has largely kept a daytime local format across both stations which is refreshing.

Rumour has it, that the plan for Ron Camplin to not sell to SCA was made at the very last minute…a matter of minutes before Grant and execs involved were going to fly by helicopter to Bathurst to formalise the deal.

A smart man. Let’s face it, we’d be stuck with another Hit and Triple M Bathurst, with a total of 3-4 staff across both stations on & off air.

So it was a blessing they sold to BOG.

Do we know if Camplin sold to BOG for less than what SCA offered?

Any idea if any changes are coming to the network? Would love to see some more music on the heritage AM stations.
