Super Radio Network

Ah alright  - Ryan also spent time at ZZZ as well a while ago if I remember correctly.

@TV.Cynic you’re fantastic for going to such effort to first receive the station and then record and upload it. Quite the set up along with your own initiative.

Thanks - hoping the tropo gods co-operate!

Reception today is not particularly good - even Coffs commercials are coming in better!

Here’s a recording I made of 104.7 12 months ago

Wow - so Grafton is home to Richie (vo of BOG AM stations) and Ryan (vo of BOG FM stations).

Lucky market.

I promised to upload some imaging from 104.7 Clarence Valley when conditions caused enhanced reception.

But that hasn’t happened; there hasn’t been any troppo from that area over the last few days unfortunately.

So I’ve uploaded some imaging off the poor signal level that I have. It gives you some idea what the station sounds like. But be prepared for LOTS of static! I used a bandwidth filter of 108,000 due to the proximity to 104.5 MMM Brisbane and ABC Warwcik and Sunshine FM on 104.9.

Still an amazing effort, thank you @TV.Cynic.

What antenna did you use and in what direction?

4 element FM to the south (ish)

The new elements on 104.7 are through Dan King Productions. It isn’t Ryan. With Richie doing most of the network imaging for local BOG FM stations we needed to have an alternative in the Clarence Valley or else it is all the Richie show (he is dong the 2-5pm gig on FM at the moment as well as 2GF breakfast). That is why we are also using some of the NEW FM elements and I do have to say I am proud of the way in which the boys are producing and integrating it. Richie is also the AM voice so it makes sense to have an alternative on the FM to break it up. We have some new stuff being produced at the moment and I will post some of it here next week.

Was in the Valley today and 104.7 sounds slick. Just need some RDS now :stuck_out_tongue::stuck_out_tongue:

Any chance of some automated music on GF instead of Poppy on a Saturday morning :joy::joy:

Went through Temora today. The 2LF translator on 104.9 is one sick puppy; overmodulated to the point of being unlistenable. By all accounts this has been the case for quite some time. 104.1 ROCCY was at least listenable but still like a low bitrate web stream.

A poor choice of frequencies too: Albury was winning the battle as close as 15-20 km from Temora.

I agree re Temora frequencies, I did wonder why they didn’t use same spacing as Brisbane e.g. any of 101.3, 103.7, 104.5, 106.1 and 106.9 would have been suitable for use there I think.

Yes I could easily get 106.5 from Albury in Temora meaning that 104.1 and 104.9 would be there underneath. FYI those repeaters which have similarities to Merriwa (being co-channeled with not so distant ABCs) get out further than Merriwa does. Power FM 102.7 got a grand total of 8km from town before it died. And yes Orange could be heard once you climb out of town.

I was going to ask about that 2LF 104.9 repeater, it was like that 2years ago! It’s so bad I actually let them know on the understanding that they can’t hear it from Young. Funny thing is they told me it would be fixed asap, guess they’re still waiting for the tech.

104.1 was OK but had the token tieline glitch every so often. I just stuck with 93.9

Sadly lots of work to do and so little techs to go around, every time I have been to Young it has been a very quick trip to fix up what has made them go off air and then back north I go.
It is worse now with the network been a tech down while I am over here :frowning:

We used to have an automated, hugely popular “60s on Saturdays” program 9-12 following Valley Sports but it was dumped in favour of Poppy by the powers that be that know better. By the way FM104.7 is only live 6-9am Monday to Friday and VT the rest of the day. The boys have it running so sweetly that news goes bang on the hour and nobody needs to be around to cross to the satellite at 5pm.

That’s awesome. You can’t even tell!

And yes I remember Ron Bell of a morning then the local sports show. Understand your hands are tied but Poppy is just…yeah :joy:

Not sure if this is still the case, but the last time I was up there in March 2017 Ron Bell featured in a television commercial for Grafton Toyota:
