Leadin to Oscars coverage at 9.30am; no TMS.

Not a new thing they run over time every day for years. I understand the guide had it running until 9:30am until the Oscars coverage started. How riveting I would much prefer to watch The Morning Show.

No point getting Larry, Kylie and the team in for a 20 minute (or even 50 minute, if they didn’t show the red carpet until 10am) show.
Also, the wouldn’t make as much money off the advertorials if they Oscars were show live nationally, as they wouldn’t air nationally.

They could broadcast Sunrise until 10am during the Super Bowl but not the Oscars?

Tells you that one of them is more valuable than the other.

I think the Red Carpet is officially considered part of the coverage as sold so it may not be that simple.

The SB arrangement is that the show starts at 5.30am local and ends at 10am AEDT. So Adelaide joins in at 6am and Brisbane at 6.30am.

The same setup could be done for the Oscars, except it’s 9.30am AEDT. Somehow they just don’t want to do it.

Which was a pathetic excuse for a show anyway, barely ran 15min and felt over before it even began, with ads and host chit chat. Oscars team should’ve done a 1 hour red carpet, so many more actors they could’ve interviewed and spent longer time with, always enjoyed seeing them pre-ceremony and mingling with press on the red carpet. I think it used to bigger/longer? Noticeably under a roof, looked like outdoor canopy set-up, many online asked and apparently due to security concerns or drones or something.

Yeah, the one that rates higher gets the better coverage.

It was 90 minutes from 2011-2023, changed to 30 minutes from 2024 due to the ceremony starting earlier.

I would have put the Oscars on 7two and kept The Morning Show with Larry and Kyle as per normal.

I’m not sure how that would be in any way beneficial for 7.
