Sunrise’s coverage from the White House was less comprehensive initially than Today’s. They didn’t show much of the exchange and when they got around to it at 8am, the playout stopped. It was eventually played out later.

Mylee Hogan finished the intro by saying the date before the theme music. A bit different.

Sunrise just reported an earthquake in Townsville but onscreen it said Toowoomba. The cities are at opposite ends of the state! No one corrected it.

Edit: error repeated at 9am and still not corrected. Appalling! Can’t anyone in the control room read??

A later story had “Hollywod” on screen. Another mistake.

High Steaks: How being an empty nester made Natalie Barr sad for a year

In the middle of this year, Sunrise co host Natalie Barr will head to Europe, but for the first time in over 20 years it will be without a camera crew by her side.

Nor will she be accompanied by her two, now adult, children, Lachlan, 23 and Hunter, 19, who have moved out of the family home and now live interstate. Instead, her mid-year break will be just with husband, film editor Andrew Thompson.

“Once I was with Sunrise, we just grew into this juggernaut. There’s no way I wanted to leave that. Are you kidding me? Why would I want to leave?,” she says, adding she has never had to hit snooze on her alarm.

Unbeknown to her, Barr has become breakfast television’s great survivor. She’s now been on morning television longer than original previous co-hosts David Koch, Melissa Doyle and Sam Armytage, as well as those at rival networks. Even if they have Logie wins and nominations to their name, whereas Barr, surprisingly, has none.

3/3/2025 JT is presenting the weather today, and presumably this week (he is on again this morning 4/3/2025).

It was a toss up as to what got the most coverage - Oscars or Alfred. Cash Cow was a close third

Also on this mornings program:

While reporting on an alleged assault in Rundle Mall, television reporter Hayden Nelson and his cameraman became victims of crime.

Nelson was on air when one of the lights used for his report was stolen right in front of his eyes.

When will Sunrise go live into Queensland?
Hoping its Wednesday; Thursday may be too late to be useful to viewers in SEQ.

The cyclone isn’t going to cross the coast until either Thursday or Friday at this stage

But updates and info on how to prepare are useless on Thursday morning if SEQ is in the thick of it, possibly without power

Qld school leaders are being briefed in the morning, so it will be interesting to hear what they’re told.

A bit backward coming forward.

Yesterday I heard them refer to the $14k as a “record amount since the return”. Couldn’t help but chuckle given $10k used to be the base amount and they’d given away $120k+ previously.

Does that mean this is the first time its gone off this wave? Eight days without a winner is atrocious.
