Sunrise

Does look like he’s leaning into the RW culture wars to generate views.

Wow.

Must be angling for a job at Sky News. Only reason for a FTA reporter not to remain neutral on politics.

Reaso!!! For a minute I thought it was Russo

He has been doing this pretty regularly since returning. Not great.

Liam was pretty good pre-paternity leave.

But now I think it’s a case of your substitute (Sam Payne) is a much stronger performer… and isn’t doing weird shit online.

It’s quite disappointing to see, but it also probably explains why he hasn’t been reading news updates on TMS on a regular basis, as well as presenting sport on the Noon News with Tarsh (Kate Massey and Tom Sacre have filled that spot), even since he returned from paternity leave.

Only Nat remains. End of an era

Beretts have been with Sunrise since the very beginning

Not exactly - he joined the show in 2004, joining Kochie, Mel and Nat.

Yes, Beretts was co-host of the then-named Seven News Sunrise bulletin with Georgie Gardner in 2000-01, then the bulletin/program was relaunched in 2002 with Mel and Reaso at the helm.

I also recall in 2003 Beretts would appear as a sports panellist, though Nat (or Simon Reeve, when Nat co-hosted in Mel Doyle’s absence that year) read the sport alongside the news.

The saddest (for OG Sunrise viewers).

Oh please. People retire from jobs all the time.

He hasn’t really retired though. He really just left Sunrise to explore other opportunities….

Beretts…reveals for the first time that his departure from Seven was slightly more nuanced than the network would have us believe. “It’s fair to say it was a combination (of the Network’s choice and mine). I could see what was coming and I didn’t want to hang around for that,” he says.

“TV is tough. It’s never been tougher. In my case, it just got to a point where it all came together at the right time. After 22 years I felt it was enough and I need a break “And, to be honest, it’s been a harrowing couple of years. There’s been a lot going on away from Sunrise and it’s time for a reset.”
