If the EP can be the sydney correspondent on the weekend, then the weekday newsreader can cover the weekend.
You’re right, I think it’s probably a first.
But given she doesn’t do 5 weekdays, and often fills in for Mon on the weekend, it’s not all that odd to see her on the desk at least.
And as always, no matter what combination of presenters Sunrise uses, it just works.

I can recall Natalie Barr presenting Sunday Sunrise at least once in 2004, when its regular presenter Chris Reason was on assignment.

Nat was the regular presenter in the early 2000s, then Chris Bath took over.
Wow. I don’t remember that. I can recall Stan Grant in the early days and Chris Bath, but not Nat.
Georgie Gardiner hosted with Mark Beretta on weekdays for a while.

You’d expect he gets more of a say of what he has to do. This is Eddy’s eighth day straight and, as mentioned in the TMS thread, she has been doing TMS updates in addition to Early News, Sunrise news and the Sydney update for the Winning Arvo. I am sure she wouldn’t have to if she was opposed to it. But I don’t think you can say she has it easier than Jake.
The usual fill in for Sally is Hugh Whitfield these days.
Perhaps Hugh is heading to Israel. And if Sally is away, Eddy was called in.

I’d say if Hugh is indeed on his way to Israel, then finding an alternative for Hugh to fill in for Sally was not planned.
