It’s really pointless having them on location when not much is happening. I think they should have only had David Woiwod on location at this stage. It would make sense to have them there after the cyclone to talk to people who have been affected and the recovery effort.
I agree. Shirvo out in the rain getting wet just to look part of it all. It’s so stupid.
Eddy presenting news this morning.
Ange Cox part of the team this morning, reporting from Byron Bay.
Sunrise continuing past 9.00am local time/ 10.00am AEDT. I presume they’ll go right through until National News at Noon?
Really wish they’d switch to 7News branding at 9am. ‘Sunrise’ just seems weird at 11am. Keep the Sunrise team etc
Promo for Weekend Sunrise just said 7am AEDT. It had little AEDT written in the letters of LIVE.
So does that mean live into Qld?
Why wouldn’t they do a specific promo for Qld in these circumstances, explicitly stating 6am for this market?
Ffs 7, you deserve to come second tomorrow.
Shirvo presenting again tomorrow.
Shirvo was interviewed by Fitzy and Wippa today. Fitzy ended the interviewed by telling him if he does a good job reporting on the cyclone, he might earn a spot at the desk at Sunrise.
And yet @TV.Cynic had posted the schedule as:
Brisbane
4.00am – 11.00am Weekend Sunrise
Can’t 7 get it right?
That’s different from what was shown twice this afternoon in Brisbane. It said 7am (with minuscule AEDT).
Seven should be trying to rotate some staff around, for health and safety. Utilise other studios and newsrooms, be it live-cross, green screen/chroma key or fly them up.
(e.g.) meteorologist Jane Bunn, from Melbourne and as used for coverage last night, a perfect example, she’s excellent and very experienced, especially when going into analysis of synoptics and explaining things more simply and clearly to viewers.
Michael Usher just commented to Tony Auden about how he’s been on-air since 3am and needs to be ready for Weekend Sunrise again tomorrow and should head off to bed. This isn’t kind for him and he’ll burn out. Also noting they’re sleeping at the Brisbane studios with a skeleton crew as it was safest option.
This is a once in 50 year event, many broadcasters thrive in situations like this amid rolling coverage, unfolding events etc and would want to be involved in coverage to keep people updated etc.
I’m sure the network is looking after them.
Mon and David in the studio. Shirvo on location at Surfers.
Sally in studio tracking the cyclone and presenting updates.
JT presenting weather and reporting at Casino.
Paul Burt still part of the team coverage today from Robina.
Katie Brown at Byron Bay.
Musher in particular seems to be something of a workaholic. Obviously I don’t know the guy, never met him or anything, but I remember when The Latest began and he was doing that and the weekend news. I think he did something like 27 consecutive days presenting.
