They hadn’t even used the Martin Place visuals as a backdrop in some years. The whole windowed studio phase of morning programs is dead across the globe.
Could have kept them as virtual windows like This Morning does.
Qld Premier on Sunrise again this morning. He’s getting lots of air time of late.
Fair enough. On my part, I’ve deleted that post as I realised was a bit harsh. Sorry mate.
Beretts mentioned he will be taking a week off to recover from his cycling tour.
Wonder what Sunrise gets from these external promos.
I don’t recall Beretts taking a day off this week. Is it his first 5 day week of the year?
Didn’t he also work Saturday and Sunday?
Sam Mac returns on Monday.
Hugh Whitfeld reading news, with Andrew McCormack on weather duties this morning.
Beretts also made an appearance for Tour de Cure.
Andrew McCormack on weather.
What is up with the Sydney newsroom? Are there low numbers, reporters not good enough or reporters not willing to get up early? Weekend Sunrise constantly flies inter-state reporters to report in Sydney. Today it is Hope Wilson from Melbourne. When they don’t do that, Sunrise producers and the executive producer reports for Sydney on weekends. Hugh is supposed to be a director, but he did the 6pm news last night and also has to get up to cover Sally’s RDO this weekend. No wonder the 6pm ratings in Sydney are down the drain.
It’s likely a perfect storm of a number of factors including these, although Weekend Sunrise has always seconded people from other newsrooms. I think it also helps uncover new talent for Sydney and national shows. But low numbers is probably top of the list at the moment, especially with Amelia Brace’s quick exit and Bill Hogan’s impending departure.
Yes, as a reporter at a charity cycling event.
And he’s back again reporting this Saturday.
Eddy co-hosting today with David.
Hugh Whitfeld on news.
Georgia Costi presenting weather.
New combo of Deborah Clay and Adam Ferrier on Hot Topics.
Was the usual team on yesterday?
Yeah
Yes, the reporters/newsreaders probably want the experience and it may lead to other opportunities down the track.

Weekend Sunrise constantly flies inter-state reporters to report in Sydney.
That probably boosts ratings in the other states and it would show they are a national program and not so Sydney-centric.
A Melbourne/Brisbane reporter reporting from Sydney wouldn’t make a difference in terms of their experience. They are still reporting, just in a different city. I also don’t see how it would affect ratings- it’s not like viewers know who these reporters are and where they live. Covering more stories from other states would make the show less Sydney-centric, not having other city reporters report on Sydney stories.
