Sunrise has the best Christmas trees

An article in The Age suggests that David Woiwod will join Weekend Sunrise next year, and confirms the current weekday team will remain intact.

a Seven spokesperson confirmed the entire weekday team, comprising Natalie Barr, Edwina Bartholomew, Mark Beretta, Sam Mac and Katie Brown, would return in 2025.
A decision on Doran’s replacement is expected to be made next week, with US correspondent David Woiwod favoured to take over.

I also wonder if David could also report from Melbourne during the week, as he did between 2017-20.

Not suggesting he would replace either Teegan Dolling or Andrew McCormack, though.

So by those pictures it looks like the Sunrise team saw the fancy LED vertical panel for 7 news and then went out and bought a LCD TV and just tuned it up vertically for sunrise.

I’m not sure if David Woiwood is the ideal choice, as his presenting style tends to come across as a bit rigid and unengaging.

Isn’t it just the same one, given the sets are opposite each other?

No. The 7News one seems fixed in its spot in front of the Sydney desk and is quite large.
The Sunrise one is more of an after thought that came along once they’d been in the new set for awhile.

Probably influenced by the screen on the News set as someone mentioned earlier, and Today’s vertical screen use as well.

7news one has a more stylised base, it’s also has a thick frame around the led panel. The sunrise one is just a big TV from Jbhifi.

Oh really? I thought more Bing Lee

Haha either or :joy:

It’s December with the federal election due in May. Sunrise is reporting this morning that Dutton is likely to win the election and the likelihood of an Albanese majority is “now close to zero.”
The election hasn’t even been called and it’s 6 months out.
What sort of reporting is this?
Their agenda is very clear.

Recent polling suggests a Coalition majority. Sunrise are just reporting what is already in the news.

Then it should be reported as “if an election was held today” or the like.

Yeah I’d take those polls with a grain of salt given that an election hasn’t been called yet and we still have a budget to go in March which will be an election one. 2019 election results should be a clear indicator that polls shouldn’t be fully trusted at this stage of the cycle, even if the Coalition and Sunrise wants to make you think that way.

They’re just reporting what’s been splashed across the News Corp papers today. An agenda? Maybe but not sure it’s Sunrise’s explicit agenda. They’re just regurgitating what’s in the public sphere.

I’ll say this though, Redbridge is no stranger to media, they could have got the pollster on to talk about it in a bit more depth. Thats a mis-step on their part. But ragging on the current government is just what they do. They did it to ScoMo too.

7/12/2024 Beretts is co-presenting with Monique today. Monique explained that Matt Doran is attending a wedding.

It’s his last day tomorrow isn’t it??

I believe so, yes.

Be interesting to see who presents next Saturday, could be Beretts again or David Woiwod might even unofficially begin in the role ahead of an official announcement of sorts in the New Year (I say this because Monique unofficially took over from Samantha Armytage in mid-2013, but whose appointment as Weekend Sunrise co-anchor wasn’t formally announced until early 2014).
