Sunrise makes pilgrimage to Currumbin Beach

Moving ANZAC Day Dawn service from 4.50am tomorrow

Australia’s most-watched breakfast TV show Sunrise will honour our nation’s proud tradition of military service and sacrifice with a special event broadcast for ANZAC Day, to air from 4.50am tomorrow on Channel 7 and 7plus.

Natalie Barr and David Koch return to host a moving Dawn service, set against the stunning backdrop of the Currumbin coastline in Queensland, and will be joined by veterans and their families at the Vikings Surf Lifesaving Club.

The early telecast will be followed by a special edition of Sunrise, with reporters live around the country and on the ground in Gallipoli and the Western Front.

From the spine-tingling raising of the flag at first light, to the goosebumps-inducing blast of The Last Post and Reveille, join the team to pay respect to those who paid the ultimate price for our freedom.

Iconic singer John Williamson will tap into that true blue spirit, performing live across the morning.

David Koch said: ‘It’s a very special morning on the Sunrise calendar every year. Come and join us on Currumbin Beach, next to Elephant Rock.”

This ANZAC Day starts with Sunrise.

One of the best shows they do each year. Let’s hope the weather is ok.

When Katie read the capital city forecast at 7.40, not one temperature matched what was on the map graphic. It was correct in the next cross.

The Sunrise time bug was swapped out part way through the ceremony this morning. It retuned later when the ceremony finished.

Weather turned just before 9am. John Williamson sang Waltzing Matilda from under umbrellas, everyone getting wet on the beach. Kochie and Nat now presenting from a standing position and looking damp and cold.

No mention of the dawn service in Perth?

I think unless its earth-shattering, they leave Perth news to the Perth team.

Caught-up on this morning’s special ANZAC editions of breakfast TV, thought they all did a stellar job, so much coverage and live-crosses and segments, Sunrise’s location was picturesque and John Williamson always brings a tear, Today’s segments were also good (however they don’t upload bulletins so had to rely on the clips they do upload and the Today/9NewsMelb social feeds for others which is annoying) and News Breakfast was really good.

Sunrise has been using Nather Retger in Adelaide alot recently, he’s much better than any of the other ones they’ve been using recently.

I think Liam Tapper from Sydney is really good, they should keep him on.

He’s been a good replacement for Rosie Barnett who’s moved to London.

He “certainly is”.

I liked when Sarina Andaloro used to do the Sydney rounds.

as a correspondent? that’s a good gig for such as young reporter!

Nah her partner, Edward Godfrey moved over for 9 so she went with him. Going by her twitter she’s out of the business for now at least.

She was good, wonder what has happened to her?
Just think Liam got shafted over summer duties. Hopefully gets a win, this time round.

New Prize Factory competition starts Monday.
