Re sport: There is no dedicated sports report so the amount of sport covered is considerably less than had previously been the case.
This morning
5.52 am Dedicated sport report before local inserts start at 6.
6.00 am - 1 sports story the new NRL team
6.30 am - no sport
7.00 am - NRL team again (repeat of report) + NBL schedule
7.30 am - NRL team again (repeat of report)
8.00 am - no sport
8.30 am - Ashes to go ahead - then nothing after that
I’m not sure if this is just an oversight from TV Blackbox or an error on the media release, but interestingly, this paragraph below about Sunrise and Weekend Sunrise doesn’t mention Sally Bowrey or James Tobin on the weekend show, only Mon and Matt. Or maybe they’re just cutting it back to Mon and Matt only in 2022?
Sunrise will be back in 2022, with co-hosts David Koch and Natalie Barr, sports presenter Mark Beretta, newsreader Edwina Bartholomew, weatherman Sam Mac and WeekendSunrise co-hosts Monique Wright and Matt Doran presenting all the latest news, sport and weather.

I wonder where Craig James is doing his finance reports from, his house? Either way, the audio was pretty bad and you really had to listen in carefully.
Seven (and other networks really) should have invested in some ringlights and decent mics for their regulars to dial in from home. Brand them up and call them a marketing expense or a “gift” to regular contributors.
Instead of having Kochie or Nat standing in front of the screen to go through the covid summary, they had this instead this morning, read by Nat who was sitting at the desk:
Sunrise had its bes comparative result in Brisbane yesterday since the intos of local inserts. It was less than 1,000 behind Today with News Breakfast winnin the market. It was more a case of Today recording a low result but it is encouraging for the team. A very volatile market this week, with viewers sampling different shows.
Triple M radio host on the Gold Coast, Peter ‘Spida’ Everitt, made his debut on the Hot Topics segment today. Looks like Sunrise are really trying to appeal to Queensland and perhaps a younger demographic, with the likes of Bianca Dye and now ‘Spida’.
