probably just forgotten but what was this?
He didn’t listen to Adele’s new album before an expensive exclusive interview in London with her, and was found out in the interview which she then pulled out from and embarrassed Seven and wasted their money.
How long has it been since they made a non-safe move at Sunrise?
the thing is, how many people want serious news on breakfast tv (who watch sunrise, given ABC news does serious news?)
Wonder where that photo was taken?
Ah now I remember, thanks
in front of a green screen? Are they even in the room together?
Not since the Boland days that’s for sure. it’s been coasting along safe all the way since
New background will be out when the new studios get revealed probably
Hopefully the fact that Beretts hosted last Friday means he’s now Shirvo’s fill in
Seven has him pinned to replace Ferguson when the time comes.
I like Matt Shervington, I think he’ll do well… but like others, I think it was the safe choice - I’m disappointed that Sunrise continues to lack a bit of diversity, despite the countless surveys saying Seven needs more.
Between June and September 2020 they had a staggered roster on weekdays which consisted of:
- Kochie and Nat with Eddy on news (Mondays)
- Kochie and Sam with Nat on news (Tue-Thu)
- Sam and Nat with Eddy on news (Fridays)
Presumably whenever the show started.
While the choice of Matt Shirvington might be safe, it isn’t the safest that Seven could have made. I would put Matt Doran and Michael Usher as the safest choices. Matt S is a comparative newcomer to the Sunrise ‘family’.
It’s clearly a stock background that they have on file.
What a Masterclass from 7/Sunrise on how to transition from a long running cohost to someone new. Not just that he has been filling in, but also having a week of letting the dust settle from the retirement announcement, then having Kochie interview him very warmly and clearly endorse him in front of viewers. Very little drama and very classy. Masterclass.
I don’t know about that… I think having Kochie host the show in the first place might have been a bit risky, but it certainly paid off in spades.
I like that it’s all been done (at least from our perspective) very quickly. None of this having Kochie announce his retirement six months or a year beforehand, followed by months of speculation on his successor. It’s all appeared very smooth and clean.
