Also of note too, with yesterdays special coverage, the Voiceover was just “Across Australia, this is a special edition of Sunrise”. No mentioning of Kochie or Nat.
In Adams book all of this addressed. Michael and Adam had split and their working relationship actually improved. Michael was a producer on the program.
When Adam annonced to management he was leaving, he put forward Michael as his successor as at the time Boland thought he knew the show the best and would breathe new ideas into it.
A very fair point and on any other day I agree but when you are going full on in terror coverage I think it’s fair to let it slip by on that day.
If anything they will probably just throw more money for the cash cow at viewers.
It’s interesting, the cash cow used to be only occasional back in the day… Shows how tactics have changed.
Speaking of which Kochie said this morning they had 4 yes FOUR!!! cash cow calls this morning. Kochie and Beretts where trying to puff it up saying how many chances there are for you to win. On a side note, Sam said something like ‘okay’.
I’ve always wondered how someone like Michael Pell got this job. What was his experience before scoring this job?
Around 2009, Pell took over Boland’s “babies” The Morning Show and Weekend Sunrise and Adam just focused on Sunrise. I believe Pell was a producer on Sunrise before that. But as @Leostar mentioned, Boland advised management to give his position to Pell. They left on good terms but they obviously changed for a number of reasons…

Anyone else think that if the ratings continue the way they are over the next couple of months that Sam and Pell will be gone, Nat will be the new co-host, Edwina will replace Nat on news and Nelson will be back doing enteratinment. It makes no sense that Sam was away yesterday and back hosting today which makes me think she was deliberately given yesterday off.
While Pell is there, there is no way Sam will go unless on her own terms. In doing so, Eddy would get Sam’s job. If I was the E.P and Sam left and I was deciding who to chose, I would; 1. look at how long Kochie intends on staying and 2. How long until Nat leaves. You don’t want to give Nat the job, only to quit a few years later. IMO, Sam looked sick or upset, so really I don’t suspect there any reasoning behind her absence. Pell would never purposely put Sam aside for Nat, that’s for sure!
Nat is away this morning so Eddy is also presenting News.
Extended to 10am for the public holiday.
Cash Cow gave away $90 000 this morning. Missed it live but saw the replay. Wonderful television moment. Sunrise at its best
All levels of awkward this morning. It’s almost like Eddy tries to hard to take over or something. And that was just the first half hour.
I just hope this does not mean the end of Rebecca Maddern, I did though notice she was not reporting either which is a good sign. Remember when we used to whinge right back to when Kylie Gillies moved from sport to news to fill-in for Simon on Weekend Sunrise. Isn’t this technically the same thing?
Eddy is capable of taking over, that’s the thing. I actually thought Sam was quite good this morning, more relaxed and comfortable, I am not sure why.

Sunrise always extend to 10am on public holidays.
I’ll admit the show got better as it went on. The Cash Cow moment was fantastic. Great tv.
How many couches are there? As when Sunrise crossed to the Morning Show, they were both sitting on the same couch! Pre recorded somewhere?
Noticed this. I am almost certain that either the Sunrise closer or The Morning Show openers were pre-recorded.
I know.
I agree.
The winner Sue Jones is from Berwick in Melbourne’s south-east. Kochie just told Jennifer Keyte on Seven News the winner would appear on the Good Friday Appeal panel tonight and donate part of the prizemoney to the appeal.
She said this morning that she had said if she won, she would give some to charity.
And by charity specially The Good Friday Appeal. The hosts were pushing for her to visit the appeal when she won.
Easter Monday (28.03.16)- Friday (01.04.16) : Sam is now on holidays. Nat is co-hosting with Eddy on the news.
The coloured strip on the desk is orange with a hint of blue. Wasn’t it previously yellow?
And now (9.30am) desk is in front of a window?
Win a piece over the weekend. WS wins Sat, WT wins Sun. Ratings are terrible though; I remember WS used to get 400-500 000 back in the day… (Happy to be corrected, relying on ‘unreliable’ memory, but I think lRC).
I was watching most of Sunrise this morning, and correct me if I am wrong, but Nelson Aspen was nowhere to be seen? Isn’t he supposed to be doing showbiz on Mondays? If not for how long? And I swear if I see that cash cow win from Friday again, I am going to punch the TV screen. Obviously the live phone call happened on Friday, it was also shown again later that morning. Then this morning, they did a report on it and played it twice! Heaven forbid.

Yeah, I believe it contains small lights which obviously can change colour.

Happens every morning at 7.30 until 8. I really like the look, reminds me heavily of NBC Today, and I think the whole Weekend Sunrise show should come from there.

Ratings are shocking. This year has been the first time Weekend Today has ever won in its tenure, or vice versa. Back when Adam Boland was JUST the E.P for Weekend Sunrise in 2012, they were receiving figures of up to 400,000 plus. I have noticed they have lessened Sally’s presence but IMO I think, even though both excellent, the viewers don’t feel Angela and Sally are apart of the ‘family’. Why they want to watch Today’s weekend version of revolving presenters though is beyond me!
