Sunrise (2015-Sept 2020)

It’s great when Sam isn’t there. It feels like they’re walking on egg shells when Sam is there.

Agreed!
Matt is the weekend host so having him on weekdays when it’s required isn’t a issue for me anyway.

Really? In what way? I don’t get that at all.

Me too. Though with the heavy news cycle ATM, I get the hesitance. I just don’t watch when Matt’s in.

If only they had a weekend sport presenter…

The ratings have been really close all week, so probably not the best week to have both hosts away. Obviously cannot be helped, but not ideal.

Even the members of Sam Mac’s Pub Quiz think they are watching Today.

Interesting super combination this morning

I think we all understand why they don’t atm.

The pub quiz is hilarious! Love this segment.

I know why but I don’t understand. They definitely fired the wrong person.

If you don’t mind me asking, who do you suggest they should have fired?

Who got fired?

I’m also confused here… first l’ve heard about a person being fired!

The only person that I think @nationalnews could be referring to is Simon Reeve. Although it’s still to be confirmed whether he’s been let go or not. Just have to wait and see what happens once the QLD/NSW borders are reopened.

I don’t believe he has been fired (I do not think he was specifically contracted to WS either), due to the cost cutting across the organization the roles of News & Sport have been combined for WS for the time being, in the same way a large portion of employees have had to take a 20% reduction in salary.

Times are tough.

Sorry, redundant may be more appropriate. I was told he’s no longer with the network.

Even with this approach, given Simon’s career started in news and was the original newsreader for WS, it makes more sense to me that he does news and sport than Sally do news and sport. He was there longer and is stronger than her IMO. I hope they get him back- but I doubt it.

I wonder if they could use him as Gold Coast reporter for Weekend Sunrise, although Tamra Bow has been doing well in that role.

On another note, sad news this morning that former Sunrise co-host Melissa Doyle is leaving the network.

Likely he would have been better in the role, but also probably more expensive.

I wonder how the headline would have looked in orange  :open_mouth: :joy:

I think this blue and the orange work well together, even though it’s clearly an error, but the red line and alignment kinda throws it off a little.

Sunrise should adapt some simpler lower thirds that tie into 7 News a little more, obviously tweaked a little for a breakfast audience.

I don’t like all the extra borders and shading.
