This tends to be misunderstandings between what people have to say and the tone of language. It’s not that any of us intend to be mean? (what’s happening above may not be the best example of my explanation though…)

Or what happened below that sentence either
They’ve been doing longer interviews with guests midway through the 7.30 news recently, which is what Today was doing a few years ago. I’d prefer if Nat just read the news and the hosts interviewed the guests, particularly something like this from today (video in article):
It had the opportunity to be a bit of a lighter interview if it wasn’t in the bulletin. It also sort of disrupts the flow of the news update.
Friday: Matt Doran is hosting with Sam
So I guess Kochie has returned to his four day working week? Second time in a couple of weeks
Minor blooper after the News Feed segment this morning (which, by the way, featured Sally Bowrey) - Matt said “Ahead in Weekend…” before quickly correcting himself to “Ahead on Sunrise…”
And yes I think Kochie has reverted to four days a week again but can’t see Sam and Nat hosting together again until Eddy returns from her maternity leave. So in the meantime Matt will be the back-up to Kochie.
If that’s a blooper, then so was Nat calling Matt ‘Kochie’ also this morning.
I would call that 'a slip of the tongue’
Yep. That’s my point.
i would expect perth to start running promos being the only local news service during breakfast tv after 9 decided after 6 years local news & weather info generated for the Today show is no more.
Wouldn’t be surprised if Seven cuts it some time in the future as they’re also in a bit of a financial storm and might be looking to cut costs further.
It would do them more harm than good to axe it. Besides, I’m fairly certain it’s produced on a shoestring anyway. And as mentioned above they can start saying “the only live and local news at breakfast”.
Agreed. Seems like one of those things that 7 had because 9 also had it.
And being the market leader, by some distance, they would likely not lose many, if any, viewers if they chose to get rid of it.
The “only brekky news in the West” line is a good one, but given the unique market there, it would make little difference.
Yep. Seven is pretty much the default channel for many viewers in Perth, isn’t it? So I can’t see them losing too many viewers if they were to dump the local Sunrise updates at some point in the future.
Its worth noting that Perth News no longer comes from the news set and is instead filmed in front of the screen used for live crosses, so there has already been some reductions on that front.
Even though they rehash some stories from 6PM, there are quite a few live crosses and I think the local insert it is needed and probably will stay (in what capacity it will stay, time will tell).
If they were to ditch the insert completely they would really need to ensure that they include some at least 1 in-depth WA related story in each news update from Nat to balance it out.
That’s already more of a real set than their current Seven News set!
In breakfast TV ratings for week 21, Sunrise maintained it dominance with a weekly average of just under 300,000. Friday, saw Seven’s show dip to its lowest audience since week 11 before the COVID-19 pandemic started to affect ratings. News Breakfast was 80,000 behind in second place. Today ranked third for the ninth straight week with two days (Tuesday and Friday) under 200,000 for the first time since week 11.
Good news- that’s not the case and local news is still on:

That’s far more impressive than their actual Perth studio LOL.
Friday 29 May-
Matt Doran is hosting with Sam this morning.
