Sunrise (2015-Sept 2020)

There’s something called Google.

It still needs to have relation to the story. It’s almost like using a random image that has no relation whatsoever.

No it’s not… Weekend Sunrise was interrupted when the playout centre crossed to another studio in the middle of Doran’s interview. How is he irrelevant to this?

He is irrelevant to the main subject of the topic and why this was posted on the website. It makes the link seem like clickbait. A photo of the studio that was crossed to would’ve been more relevant.

Yes it’s click bait. Sadly it’s a common trick to sensationlise the trivial and mislead readers.

Sorry, he is not irrelevant. He was on air when the feed was interrupted.

What a croc to suggest he is nothing to do with the story.

I doubt Doran would be happy to have that headline under an image of himself given a casual glance would suggest you’re attributing those words to him and calling into question his professionalism. It’s all well and good to say “read the article” but how often do time poor people just flick through sites and glance at headlines?

I’d be surprised if Pell hasn’t had Seven’s legal team take a look at this considering he is known to be very protective of his product and talent.

Sorry @blackbox you know I think you are awesome and always support you. But this time I agree with the others. When I saw the headline pop up I immediately thought that Matt had been caught in an off-air conversation. Which was nothing of the case. It may have happened during his show but it had nothing to do with Matt.

Look, I can accept the fact you guys consider it click bait (but having said that I want people to go to my website), but to suggest Doran is NOTHING to do with the story is disingenuous.

Good point. I’ll be using Google for every line blasted on the television now.

Just a hint, a news program is meant to be factual and straight down the line. Using a reporter from a state run television station in a communist country is the opposite of that.

Total clickbait. Yes he was part of the story. He wasn’t the main feature, nor should he be your lead photo next to a headline like that.

Any outlet that screams “read the article” absolutely knows this. It’s nothing but disingenous on their part.

Or maybe there’s a problem that in our society we only read the headline and think we’re informed?

Come on Rob, you used a photo of Matt. You could have used the Sunrise logo GFX, but to a reader browsing it looks like Matt has said fuck on air. You know it, if it was done to talent on S10 when you were running it, you’d feel the same way.

Doran is not the story though and his face shouldn’t have been used as the main placeholder image.

You clearly used that image for a reason - click throughs, to add to the story etc, even though you had vision and screen caps of said incident further down the article. which could have been used but wouldn’t have been as interesting of a piece I’m guessing.

If your site is doing as well as you say that it is, I personally don’t think you need to be drawing such longbows to make it juicer. Let your stories speak for themselves.

I can cop some of the criticism here, there are the usual suspects though who find problems with everything I do.

I still think it was relevant to have Doran - and yes each headline is absolutely designed to get people to read the story… and I’m not so sure what is so wrong with that - but I do see where those who disagree are coming from.

I have heard the arguments and will consider it going forward.

I should have known there was nothing worth reading in this topic. I’ll now give it a miss for another couple of months.

:+1: I think it’s great you’re willing to have a dialogue and be open.

Rather this convo, than another discussion about the set background colour.

To say some find problems with everything you do may be a little stretch, a lot of it is constructive criticism.

I’d say most people here, myself included enjoy what you create - both with the shows, podcasts, exclusives (okay, some of them) etc.

But I’m glad to hear you’ll consider it going forward, thanks for coming in here to respond.

Extremely dodgy to not explain what CGTN is

One of the things I’ve learnt over the years being here is whenever you see a thread with a high unread count, it’s more likely than not be about something which isn’t a major story/event or a relaunch
