And in Sydney there’s no dedicated correspondent (but IIRC Simon Reeve and Eddy were both Sydney reporters, while Shaun White also spent some time on the road prior to 2016).
These days, Jessica Ridley reports on Mondays-Wednesdays and Samantha Brett does Thursdays and Fridays. If there’s another major story in Sydney, Amber Laidler would cover it (Mylee Hogan also did a similar role last year before moving to Canberra).
Once, Brett did file a report on a Tuesday morning last September (TMK, Ridley was off sick that morning):
I don’t want to sound pedantic, but is it really a big deal? There isn’t any law on who has to report in each city like you’re making it out to be. Just an observation of the posts over the last couple weeks.
Jessica Ridley has been reporting on weekend mornings in recent weeks.
The Saturday just passed she was in Perisher covering the start of the ski season; two weeks earlier she was covering the federal election and the Sunday before that (Mother’s Day) she was covering the Mother’s Day run in Sydney.
I think Kochie might have another week off given he was in Shanghai for the Port Adelaide AFL match. I also think Seven are testing the waters to see if Sam and Nat could work as co-presenters full-time if he were to be moved on, which I doubt will happen in the short term.
Sunrise had another big win ahead by +90,000. The show won every market easily. Today’s Sydney audience was one of its lowest - with bigger audiences for the show in Melbourne and Brisbane on Monday.
Another good result for Sunrise - ahead by 90,000 again. Today show apparently not “panicking” about the ratings - well they should at least be concerned. Today recovered in Sydney from yesterday’s poor result but Sunrise also improved to one of their best numbers for the year in that city while, in Melbourne, Today was bettered by Breakfast’s rating just on the ABC main channel.
Does anyone know when the Jessica Ridley/Samantha Brett split in Sydney began? Must’ve been sometime in June/July 2017 when Brett returned from her maternity leave.
Also good luck to Today, putting “The best utes to buy” against Sunrise’s exclusive interview with Kevin Hart. The interview was very funny and they even did a segment with dogs with him, which was very Studio 10 @blackbox . Does anyone care about utes- very blokey.
