Won’t be shocked if 10 has intentions of pushing Tristian out the door and have Jimmy Rees come in - especially with his regular Wednesday appearances now… Surely Tristian’s contract would have a probationary period?
The whole thing was clearly rushed to find someone to fill a full time role on the show. Wasn’t there only a 2-3 week period between the announcement of network axings and the start of the new formats?
They really should have tried out Tristan as a guest host before committing to have him in the relaunched format. Don’t know why they didn’t just try Sarah and Angela fronting the show and kept Tarsh Belling rather than Tristan.
Surely the likes of Dr Andrew Rochford, Dr Chris Brown, Merrick Watts or even Grant Denyer were offered but declined (you could understand why). As an EP, surely you wouldn’t risk it on someone so untested if you didn’t have to you? Regarding the probationary, I think this the last chance for the show anyway- if works it stays, if doesn’t it goes.
Was great to see her again yesterday. Today… Ita Buttrose.
Chris is already on contract so just a % increase. As for Grant, “all of your other shows have been axed, so see out your contract on S10 or we will terminate.” I still think Sarah and Angela hosting the whole show is still a cheaper (and better) option than what they have now.
It would’ve been nice if Studio 10 looked at becoming a breakfast format rather than morning TV. It would be an opportunity for 10 to somewhat rebuild their news brand slightly but that opportunity is far gone.
I’ve always felt like Matt White and Sarah Harris would be a good breakfast duo as I’ve mentioned before.
He would’ve been SO much better.
Do you really think most hosts being offered a role on Studio 10 would want to be apart of it? It’s full of fluff garbage with little news and essentially one of the worst rating programs on Australian TV right now.
I’m surprised Sarah has stayed at 10 for as long as she has. She should’ve ran back to Nine a couple of years ago.
Please don’t put his name in as a contender. He was the Tristan of Ten Breakfast back in the day.
Just because someone is contracted to a show on a network, doesn’t mean the network can just throw talent on another show.
The Living Room, I’m A Celebrity and Studio 10 would have completely different budgets. Some talent, like Amanda Keller, also run themselves as businesses. This means their “contract” would only apply to single shows - It wouldn’t be a % increase, it would be a completely new and different cost.
In an article in Herald Sun (paywalled) Fiona Byrne reports Studio 10’s average audience from Sep 14 to Oct 16 (since Tristan started) was 20 per cent down on the same period in 2019.
Interestingly, viewers under 40 is up 8% which suggests it’s attracting a younger audience. Probably not a bad thing since they would typically skew quite high generally given the timeslot and content.
TBH, I don’t actually care about S10 anymore. If they never implement what I say, I’m not phased.
To answer your question, they are not doing this because they want to be fresh and unpredictable each day. They are apportioning the formatting of the guest host to suit availability and funding, with little vision for the show. When you are trying to build a dynamic between two newly appointed hosts, don’t try a wedge a (different) third wheel in sporadically.
I find it really funny how everyone used to bag the shit out of the show and how “daggy” it was. Then they change it and people want to go back to the daggy phase.
I agree the show isn’t perfect now, there should be more news incorporated into it. I think there’s more to it in why this is the case. I think resources within the news department are tied up now/massively reduced which is why we don’t see this and Studio 10 don’t have a bug enough production crew to do this.
