FIRST NEW SHOW FROM STAN’S NBCU PARTNERSHIP LANDS ON STAN THIS FRIDAY

Friday 28 August

Fresh off the back of today’s landmark announcement with NBCUniversal, Billie Piper’s I Hate Suzie will be the first new series from Sky Studios to launch exclusively on Stan – premiering this Friday.

Starring and co-created by BAFTA Award-nominee Billie Piper ( Collateral , Doctor Who ) and written by Emmy Award-nominee Lucy Prebble ( Succession , Secret Diary of a Call Girl ), the brand new eight-part drama series I Hate Suzie premieres Friday, 28 August only on Stan – and marks the first new series from Sky Studios to premiere exclusively on Stan, as part of its newly announced landmark deal with NBCUniversal .

ABOUT I HATE SUZIE

Suzie Pickles (Billie Piper), a star on the wane, has her whole life upended when her phone is hacked and a photo of her in an extremely compromising position is released for the whole world to see. This excruciatingly honest show follows the various stages of Suzie’s trauma episode by episode, through Shock, Denial, Fear, Shame, Bargaining, Guilt, Anger and Acceptance as Suzie and her best friend and manager Naomi ( Leila Farzad , Innocent ) try to hold her life, career, and marriage together in the face of being exposed for who she truly is. But who the hell even is that?

I Hate Suzie premieres Friday, 28 August only on Stan.

NBCUniversal’s streaming deal with Stan was even picked up by Hollywood entertainment website Deadline.
The Kate McKinnon-starred limited series Joe Exotic (working title) should be included in the deal.

However, Channel News reports the new deal is only for two years and Stan had to pay a “eye watering price” to secure the programs.

But Foxtel is pushing Stan towards extinction lol ?

That should hopefully stop speculation that Peacock will launch in Australia and NBCUniversal buying into Seven.

I was wondering if Stan will also get the Hayu content (some of which is already on Netflix) from NBCUniversal too. Peacock is meant to be getting some housewives (bravo related) original programming also.

Would be a massive get for Stan.

If they play the game well Stan will thrive well into the future.

Considering it’s reportedly only a 2-3 year deal, I doubt it

Hayu’s a different proposition though in that I don’t think it has original programming. The service is designed more to be a ‘one-stop shop’ for NBC’s reality/true crime shows

Channel News articles always are anti Stan and laughable.

TV Blackbox says Stan paid $100 million to get the deal with NBCUniversal. The agreement is for two years with the option for a third. It also says Stan had to beat a joint bid by SBS and Fetch TV to secure content from Sky Studios.

The Sunday Telegraph reports model and actress Tahyna MacManus (nee Tozzi) has created a new documentary about pregnancy loss, after suffering her second miscarriage in 2017. She interviewed Claire Holt, sister Cheyenne Tozzi, Teresa Palmer and Deborra-lee Furness to create Misunderstandings of Miscarriage, which will debut on Stan on October 1, to mark Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month.

Highly recommend I Am Woman. It’s a very good movie. Tilda Cobham-Hervey is excellent as Reddy. Perth singer Chelsea Cullen recorded all the songs that Cobham-Harvey lip-syncs to, and sounds very much like Reddy.

Early on in the movie there are a couple of scenes of Reddy apparently riding on the New York subway, but the interior of the carriages looked identical to an old Sydney Red Rattler. :grinning:

Wasn’t she on Blue Water High?

Totally agree mate. Good movie, good cast; just wish they got the lip syncing better.

3.5 stars out of 5 for me.

Was great to learn about an Australian icon who made it big overseas, why is not in the Australian music hall of fame?
