STAN SPORT SERVES UP GRAND SLAM ACTION AT THE US OPEN

UNIQUE MIXED DOUBLES COMPETITION BRINGS OUT THE STARS

The final Grand Slam of the year takes centre stage in New York with all the action from the US Open streamed live and on demand on Stan Sport.

A revitalised mixed doubles draw kicks off proceedings ahead of the main draws, live and exclusive on Stan Sport, with a $1 million USD prize money enticing some of the game’s biggest stars. Sixteen pairs will feature, including Katerina Siniakova & Jannik Sinner, Emma Raducanu & Carlos Alcaraz and the all-American pair of Madison Keys & Francis Tiafoe. The finals will take place tomorrow morning from 9:00am AEST.

Singles action begins on Monday 25 August from 1:00am AEST daily, with every match live and on demand on Stan Sport, with select coverage also available on Channel 9 and 9Now.

Fans will be watching closely to see if men’s world No.1 and defending champion Janik Sinner has fully recovered after retiring ill during last week’s final against rival Carlos Alcaraz [2] in Cincinnati. Between them, the pair have claimed the last seven Grand Slams and their stranglehold on the men’s tennis shows no side of ending.

The Aussie men’s contingent led by Alex de Minaur [8] will be hoping to replicate their 2024 performance where four men reached the third round for the first time since 1997. His compatriots Alexei Popyrin [37], Jordan Thompson [57] and Chris O’Connell [79] will also be looking to make deep runs in New York after strong showings in recent months.

On the women’s side of the draw, world No.1 Aryna Sabalenka returns to Flushing Meadows determined to defend her crown and reassert her dominance after going without a title since last year’s US Open. She will face fierce competition from a stacked field, including Wimbledon champion Iga Swiatek [2] and Roland-Garros champion Coco Gauff [3]. Australians Daria Kasatkina [17] and Maya Joint [42] will fly the flag in the women’s draw.

For all the latest news, talking points and highlights, Grand Slam Daily returns. Hosted by Chris Stubbs alongside former Australian tennis greats Casey Dellacqua and Wally Masur, the show will stream live and exclusive on Stan Sport beginning Monday August 25 at 2:30pm AEST. Live from Flushing Meadows, reporter Duncan McKenzie-McHarg will bring viewers unique courtside access and exclusive chats with the sport’s biggest names.

Stan: Premier League Powers Lift In Subs, Breaks Audience Record

Nine chief executive Matt Stanton said the Premier League had already led to a spike in Stan subscribers from 2.3 million to 2.5 million, following a fiscal year in which Stan’s revenue grew by 10 per cent.

The Premier League wasn’t the only big ticket show in town; the Wallabies test match against South Africa and the All Blacks encounter with Argentina would have also attracted eyeballs.

Nonetheless, Stanton is confident that interest in the Premier League will continue to drive subscribers, including fans who previously watched it on Optus Sports and new organic subs.

Stanton is confident the $5 price hike will not lead to massive churn and that the platform’s suits of sport – including Premier League, Champions League, Australian Open, Rugby Champions and Winter Olympics – provides an all year calendar or premium sport to attract more subscribers.

IBF & THE RING MAGAZINE CRUISERWEIGHT WORLD TITLES

JUSTIS HUNI V KIKI TOA LEUTELE
WBO GLOBAL HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE & WBC AUSTRALASIAN HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE

Stan in partnership with Tasman Fighters, today announced that Australia’s top pound-for-pound boxer and only male world champion Jai Opetaia [28-0, 22 KOs] will defend his IBF and The Ring cruiserweight world titles against unbeaten German mandatory challenger, Hüseyin Cinkara [23-0, 19 KOs] at Ring of Fire.

The unmissable showdown will headline an incredible night with seven belts on the line at the Gold Coast Convention Centre on Saturday 6 December, live & exclusive on Stan Pay-Per-View for $50.

Widely regarded as Australia’s best pound-for-pound boxer by the world’s top boxing promoter Eddie Hearn, the must-see Opetaia is also ranked as no.1 cruiserweight in the world. Known for his destructive power and relentless style he faces a fearsome test in Cinkara, with both men notorious for their knockout ability and neither wanting a blemish on their perfect professional records.

In the co-main event, Australia’s top-ranked heavyweight Justis Huni [12-1, 7 KOs] will step into the ring for a rematch with New Zealand’s Kniki Toa Leutele [12-2-2, 8 KOs]. The pair first met in 2022, with Huni claiming the unanimous decision victory. After a setback earlier this year against future heavyweight title challenger Fabio Wardley, Huni will be looking to get his world title aspirations back on track in this anticipated rematch.

Justis Huni v Kiki Toa Leutele

On opponent Hüseyin Cinkara, Jai Opetaia said: Cinkara is a tough opponent in my mandatory, however he stands in my way on the road to being undisputed world cruiserweight champion. It’s great to end the year up at home on the Gold Coast, and I look forward to putting on a spectacular event again with Tasman Fighters on Stan Pay-Per-View. We will go to war on December 6.

Jai Opetaia is a fourth generation boxer, and Australia’s youngest ever Olympic boxer at 16 years of age, with the prodigy turning heads throughout his stellar career. This bout marks his third IBF world title defence in 2025, in his quest to unify the cruiserweight world titles with only WBO and WBA cruiserweight champion Gilberto ‘Zurdo’ Ramirez and WBC champion Badou Jack left to conquer.

Featuring a stacked card with an astonishing seven titles on the line, Ring of Fire will showcase some of Australia’s top boxing stars including Paul Fleming [28-1-1], Jake Wyllie [15-2] and undefeated Olympic heavyweight star Teremoana Teremoana in an unforgettable night of fights.
