So your counter point is moot given I was supportive of nines decision not to have post match but critical of them over doing said post match. Bringing up my previous post had no correlation with my point this evening. We were prepared for no post match but we got post match and no introduction to EPL. Hence my criticism.
Friday nights are overdoing it; a quick look at the highlights really isn’t.
At no point were we promised an introduction to the EPL. It was always going to be a quick turnaround given the expected finish time of the NRL match against the start time for the EPL.
I believe TVTropes calls it “ironic echo”.
Their should of been a brief cross to the studio even if pre recorded by Adam Peacock. Welcoming channel 9 viewers to a new era of epl coverage plugging Stan and stating they would be back at half time to provide analysis of the first half. It could of been 1 or 2 minutes, Just makes more polished switch. Cutting into silence was not the best option
There was a handover from Emma Lawrence at the end of the NRL coverage, so it wasn’t without some introduction. The pre-game ceremony made it a little more difficult to provide an intro.
You can see all of the matchweek 1’s EPL goals live exclusively on Stan Sport.
Because the game on Channel 9 has none.
Anyway, any thoughts about Stan’s Australian feed?
Doesn’t 9Now have some?
No, they only have 3 games (one for each matchweek) that are shown on Ch 9 as part of Stan’s limited promotion.
Now we look ahead to MC-TOT for the proud title of “The first Premier League goal scored live on Australian FTA”.
I have the PL World Feed on which is available as an option. The 4K feed cuts the pre/post game analysis and shows
SBS showed one Premier League fixture live per week from 2016-19 and prior to that I also recall them showing one game a week back in the early 2000s as well (until 2003 or 2004 or thereabouts).
Next week could still be the first Premier League goal ever scored live on a commercial FTA network though.
I’m quite frustrated there’s no 24/7 stream. on a weekend night if my team isn’t playing i’d chuck on optus sport 1 and watch pregame and whatever match they decided to broadcast. can’t do that now
Does anyone know how many games the EPL do in 4k per round?
At most three a week. Some rounds they are happy to do four, like this opening round we’re going through.
I can tell you that CHE/CRY and MUN/ARS will be in UHD today. Next Saturday the selected game is MCI/TOT (the one that Channel 9 will carry).
If you want a proper pre match, just watch it on Stan Sport?
Huh? The EPL had been live on SBS from 2002-2003 and again when Optus bought the rights in 2016, a deal was made for the early Saturday game to be shown on SBS in return for Optus having all the games to the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
Stan Sport is throwing down a watch party at the Federation Square in Melbourne for the Man City-Tottenham game on Saturday night.
Even though their Aussie manager Ange Postecoglou is not with Tottenham…
Aside from wanting to ensure premium product stays on Stan, there might be issues with scheduling for FTA.
EPL games can be moved if clubs progress in various competitions or if there are international breaks. Not having that consistent timeslot could be an issue for Nine to keep it going beyond the 3 games scheduled.
For Stan - not a problem.
As much as I’d love to see Nine schedule one EPL game FTA per week, every week during the season, that is going to be the problem.
It has been corrected earlier. Thanks for your contribution though.
The two other games that will receive 4K distribution are ARS/LEE and FUL/MUN.
Interestingly there is no mention of the event on Federation Square website, but here is a new Instagram post from Stan from this afternoon.
