Stan Sport’s deal with UEFA Champions League expires at the end of the 2026-27 season – it is unclear whether Nine intends to renew that agreement, given most of its audience are likely to retain a subscription that just includes the EPL.

Stan would be silly not to renew the UEFA Champions League rights. They already have the EPL viewers, and the majority of those viewers support clubs that compete in the UEFA competitions.

The issue is that Stan’s parent Nine needs to find savings to help pay for its share in the new NRL rights deal, plus the ongoing expenses for the rights to the Olympics, Australian Open tennis, netball and rugby union. With BeIN getting the Australian rights to UEFA Nations League and Euro qualifiers, I think Nine will relinquish the rights to UEFA club competitions when the contract expires mid next year.
Out of curiosity, what is the financial state of BeIN Sports? Do they have the capacity to bid for the UCL/UEL rights?
If Nine/Stan wanted to reduce expenses, I wonder why they got the broadcast rights from the WTA tour earlier this year…

BeIN will probably bid - they tend to for most territories given the way the tender/bid process works.
DAZN has the NZ UCL rights - but don’t have the Foxtel/Kayo product reach in NZ.

That seems like a really high number. Who would they be competing against? Fox/Kayo not interested in the round ball. 10/Paramount not a peep for NRL rights. Prime Video?
They have the rights in ASEAN countries and MENA. Paramount has the rights in the UK and US

I can’t believe the EPL rights go for $140M annually given most games are late at night
