Since March 1, Wellington Regional Stadium in the New Zealand capital is known as Hnry Stadium.

Hnry, a Wellington-based app and tax service for sole traders, is only the third naming rights sponsor in the stadium’s history, after Westpac and Sky.

I look forward to the day when stadiums will be sponsored by sounds. I could be attending matches at the Grrrrrrrrrrr Arena, the Boink Stadium and at Da-dum Field.

I can never keep up with these naming rights sponsors. Plenty of people still call Mac Jones the ISC

I refer to the various stadiums by their proper name

If I’m not being paid to promote a comic book company, a shoddy telco or a thieving bank, why should I.

And some are a bit too similar… in relation to Sydney, whenever I hear of Allianz Stadium (next to the SCG) or Accor Stadium (the Olympic Stadium at Homebush), I always have to think to make sure which is which.

If/when the one at Homebush ever gets a roof (which has been in the news again lately in relation to the cost), it will hopefully become the Allianz Dome etc which would make it easier.

Also isn’t there an Allianz Stadium somewhere else in the world?

There’s one in Brisbane I believe - QSAC?

There’s 3 - London, Sydney, Turin.

Four if you translate the Vienna one in English.

Te Kaha in Christchurch is due to open in April.

Penrith’s new stadium will be known as Helloworld Stadium, after the travel agency group signed a five-year deal.

Helloworld as a stadium sponsor? Well, that’s different. Impressed to get a five-year deal also.

The last name for Penrith was Bluebet Stadium. Possibly the last in NSW to end with gambling sponsored names? Shark Park’s Pointsbet Stadium ended that name a year or two ago.

Guess the stadium offering this seat as a premium seat at $2500?

Brookvale? Is that Sea Eagle shit?

Nope. It’s at Ocean Protect Stadium, Cronulla’s (literally) crappy home ground and yes, that is bird shit on the $2500 seat.

I believe they call it the @Radiohead seat.

Leichhardt Oval’s new $5m grandstand roof scrapped over budget blowout

A $5 million roof slated for one of Leichhardt Oval’s new grandstands has been scrapped due to budget issues before construction starts on the beloved NRL venue.

A flashy, modern northern grandstand designed for the $40 million overhaul of the Wests Tigers’ home ground will now proceed without a roof, as officials desperately try to keep the new Leichhardt project within funding commitments.

“We said we needed $50 million to save (Leichhardt Oval) for another 50 years to come,” Inner West Council mayor Darcy Byrne said.

“Unsurprisingly, the costs have come out at about $50 million.

“Our estimate was pretty accurate.

“What we are doing in the design is putting in the capacity for the roof to be installed later. It will be future-proofed. But there are other things that are higher priorities.”

Why are they even bothering? Move the Tigers out to Campbelltown full time. It’s in a shitty location, fuck all public transport.
