And the three promoted stories have been in the news cycle all day, apart from the NBA - which finished at 1pm.
Abdo quitting was public by 9:30am, the PL was done by 3am. This is why the concept is dated, if anyone cared about the PL they would have seen highlights when they woke up (or live), they’re not staying up for reports on it at 10pm+

The banter was SO scripted

I only saw the backend of it, but was Sports Tonight over one or two segments in length?
I wasn’t a fan of the banter and split screen either.
I’ll give it about 3 months before it’s gone again. You can’t polish a horse without it being stained . Then again this is ten - major stupid people
In management.

It’s just a sport segment embedded in the Late News, nothing different to the 5PM bulletin. Think it’s nice to have it named as such rather than ‘Sport’.

It was basically just a sports segment that would have aired at 5pm, nothing special besides a fancy name.
Odd that it had two sport related stories in the news leading into Sports Tonight.
I wonder if it was pre-recorded, considering Max does(?) breakfast radio.
Why does the graphics gave me The Cheap Seats vibes

That basically was what we were told we’ll be getting. Not sure where all the hype came from.

ST was a nice addition to the Late News tonight but I think they need to tweak the rundown slightly.
The fluff about Hollywood movies at the end of the first segment made me not sit through the remainder of the bulletin live. First block should be news only and then an ST preview before going to the break. Save the fluff to the end.
Also, the format of the late news hasn’t really changed since going to the main set so I’m not sure the point. Might be better switching Late News back to the green screen given the interaction is crosses to presenters in newsrooms around the country with Lunchtime reverting back to the main set so they can actually use it for the three presenters (news, weather and good news) and guests being interviewed to interact in the same space.

i will say, it’s good to have the name back, but in some ways felt like the soul of ST wasn’t there, and felt like a jazzed up version of a normal sport segment.
i felt they focused a LOT on soccer, which while yeah I get 10 are the soccer people these days, still felt disproportionate compared to the quick 30 seconds they gave to NRL and AFL (and mind you the AFL news they reported was a nothing burger)
the graphics are good - especially as it’s a bit of variation, while keeping with the 10 graphics, which works well
but that being said though, always room to improve, so not gonna write it off yet!

Great to see Sports Tonight back. And Max Burford is a star.

The EPG info has Tara Rushton as host of Sport Tonight’s Weekly Kick Off, but Scott Mackinnon is hosting instead. Also on the couch is Erik Paartalu (and is that Luke Wilkshire?).
