Paris Olympics gold medallist Grace Brown has retired from cycling, after taking out the Chrono des Nations time trial for the first time.
Australian surfing star Tyler Wright’s family has spoken out after the World Surf League confirmed Abu Dhabi will host the second event on the 2025 Championship Tour calendar.
WSL officials announced the tie-up in August and locked in the schedule last week, days after the UAE’s man-made venue hosted its first ever professional event with the Longboard Classic.
Wright, a two-time world champion, came out as bisexual in 2020 and married her wife Lilli two years later.
“This schedule should (be) rethought,” her brother and occasional CT surfer Mikey wrote on the WSL’s post.
“You have no business putting on an event at a location where my sister can be sentenced by law with the death penalty. So much for equality and equal rights, only when it’s convenient to WSL.
“You have supported the LGBTQ flag on her shoulder but now you want to strip it and be hush-hush to get her to a location that she’s at risk of this punishment.
“You have the responsibility to protect your athletes, interested to see how you think you can protect her against the law.”

Biggest contributor to this is just how crazy rich these countries are with their oil reserves, they can shun everyone and use this to deflect their human rights abuses.
Perhaps someone needs to take them down a peg financially and we’ll see how they’ll afford this events.
Marc Marquez has won the Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix for the fourth time, his first since 2019. Pole sitter Jorge Martin led for the first 25 laps, but he was overtaken by Marquez with two laps remaining.
Marquez had a poor start when the rear tyre of his bike slipped and emitted smoke. Turns out he tore a small piece off the visor on his bike which then slipped beneath the rear tyre.
Australian Jack Miller finished 11th.

Los Angeles Dodgers have won a dramatic game 5 of baseball World Series against New York Yankees 7-6, to claim the series 4-1. The Yankees raced to a 5-0 lead after three innings, only to have the Dodgers scoring five runs in the fifth inning to tie the scores.
The Dodgers won the first three games (including the first two at home), before the Yankees rebounded to take game four on Tuesday 11-4, scoring four runs in the third inning and five runs in the bottom of the eighth inning.
It is the Dodgers’ first World Series title since 2020 and their eighth overall championship.
Dodgers’ Freddie Freeman was named World Series MVP.
