Sports That Don’t Have Or Need A Thread

It should be on tv

It is live on Eurosport via Foxtel.

How come swimming gets all the free to air content? Little Athletics now is declining in numbers and it’s alarming. It doesn’t help when FTA has ZERO athletics content year round. The only time they pump athletics is when the Olympics (and lesser extent Comm Games) are on… that’s when we get a boost of numbers. Swimming gets coverage. Heaps of coverage with the Australian titles on FTA tv too… when was the last time the Australian Championships were on Tv?

Coverage of Australian athletics is now reduced to live streaming via Athletics Australia website. A couple of years ago there was live coverage on Fox Sports.

We’ve traditionally been successful at it and the coverage rates well

New wrestling show AEW Dynamite started last week which will rival WWE. Something Ten should be looking at

I heard from the Herald Sun saying that The Qualifying of the Japanese F1 Grand Prix has been shifted from Saturday to Sunday due to the approaching typhoon Hagabis, which is set to pass by the circuit. Qualifying will be shifted to 10AM Sunday Morning, when weather is set to have cleared. However, the Grand Prix will still go ahead on Sunday at 2:10pm (Japan Time).

Not surprising. Typhoon Hagabis has already cause the cancellation of 2 matches at the Rugby World Cup

I know the isn’t probably isn’t the first year it’s been like this, but it’s sad not seeing any Falcons in the Bathurst 1000 anymore,

I know Ford now have the Mustangs racing, but it’s not really a car that everyone can relate to, since they cost about $60k and only have 2 doors.

Scott McLaughlin has won the bathurst 1000 race this year.

Though some will say The Everest is more relevant as there are more Australian horses in it versus the Melbourne Cup which has a lot of overseas horses in it now.

And yet in the same vein I’d argue most people who don’t follow horse racing would know the Melbourne Cup and think The Everest is just a mountain

To put this into perspective, most of The Everest runners came to Melbourne last year to race for a quarter (or even a fifth) of the prizemoney three weeks later. It’s an ego driven money grab that with bombardment of the media has got attention. Unfortunately it hasn’t made an impression on me for that reason. NSW racing talks up a big game, yet they often under deliver when it matters.

The 2019 Women’s Health Women in Sport Awards were held in Sydney last night, and there are more honours for Ash Barty.

The awards, hosted by Sunrise’s Mark Beretta, will be shown on Seven or 7mate this Friday night (check your local guides).

Scott McLaughlin and Alex Premat will keep their Bathurst 1000 title they won last Sunday, but their racing team has been severely punished for ordering Fabian Coulthard to slow down during a late-race Safety Car period.
