Probably their normal Sunday offering of the time (Sunday, Sunday Footy Show [Boots and All in NRL states at 12:30], AFL game [Crows vs Swans], then either NRL [think it was St.George/Illawarra vs Penrith based on the games played that day] or the edited AFL game [St.Kilda vs West Coast, 10 may have shown Hawthorn vs Port Adelaide given there was no V8 race that weekend]). Given it was a Day game it would have been irrelevant what was shown in primetime, but something like Backyard Blitz, 60 Minutes and a Movie would sound accurate.
Edited afl game: didn’t that show it on a delayed telecast in Perth with the lead in to 6pm news?
Friday Night Footy was shown on delay at 8.30pm in Perth with games involving the Eagles or Dockers aired on delay leading up to the 6PM News. Nine aired the early Sunday arvo game live to all states between 2002 and 06.
What was 7’s AFL coverage like in 2000-01 before losing the rights to Nine/Ten/Fox
Does anyone happen to have any content, adds or graphics from when Seven held the rugby union broadcast rights?

Seven ended its Rugby Union telecast in 2010 where it was given to the Nine Network. Network TEN subsequently picked up the rights for the Rugby Union in 2013. Nine treated Rugby Union with little respect.
Do you happen to know the presenters and commentators?
Bruce McAvaney was the host of the Rugby commentary team. Gordon Bray was the caller for the matches. As well as this, Fox Sports also simulcasted the coverage live on 7.
Nine picked up Wallabies in 2010 simply because it acquired the rights to 2011 Rugby World Cup in New Zealand, much like the way the network bought the rights to 16 matches to 2002 FIFA World Cup. Nine gave both sports long term respect.
7 also offloaded some Olympics coverage to SBS in 2004 and 2008 before the advent of multichannels but was all 7-produced.
From my memory, SBS showed volleyball, road cycling, football and hockey all in full and branded themselves as “complementary Olympic broadcaster” but with their own hosts.
Beijing 2008 Games was a Seven telecast and when they had AFL on a Friday Night and Sunday Afternoon, Johanna Griggs told viewers in some states that NSW, QLD, SA and WA that there will be AFL on. In Victoria, they had the AFL at 3pm Sundays in the lead in to 6pm news in Melbourne.
As of nowadays, they have multichannels to free up other sports. When Seven had the Rio 2016 Games, Mel McLaughlin told people wanting to continue watching the games will switch to 7Two/7Mate. During the Olympics Period, AFL was shunted to 7mate.
At that time multichannels did not exists and Olympic fans complained about AFL interrupting the Games here on MS and on other forums.
A tri-Nations match interrupted the 2004 Athens Olympics during Week 1.
THis was the case with Nine’s London 2012 Coverage with NRL shown at 6:30pm Friday nights on a delayed telecast on GEM while the Olympics resumed at 6:30pm for Perth viewers. This has caused a lot of backlash on social media and have been complaining about delayed telecast.
Nine’s London 2012 telecast was slammed with repeats of swimming events. As well as this, there was a simulcast with GEM in HD. Fox has more coverage than Nine and the coverage on Nine is a D grade.
On that day 5 years ago, David Zdrillic presented the FIFA World Cup 2014 from Brazil. He said a goodbye to the coverage after 1 month of action on SBS.
The montage of the FIFA World Cup shows the highlights of the goals and moments from the tournament. The song being played was I Lived from One Republic. This song is a good tribute to the end of the FIFA World Cup.

Nine’s coverage was so D-Grade I ended watched the London Olympics on the BBC’s iPlayer using a VPN, all events were available live and on demand and I could pick which sports I wanted to see. Even though the British commentators were biased towards Team GB it was better than watching Nine’s swimming-centric coverage. Since then the BBC has blocked VPNs from accessing its iPlayer content (similar to Netflix blocking VPNs).
Yeah, Nine’s coverage is poor. The ratings from London 2012 was much lower than Beijing 2008 Games on 7. Nine treated the Games with little respect, even though I still don’t have Fox Sports.
I watched a bit of the London 2012 Games on Satellite TV on CCTV (China Central Television) with no ads. Nine had a lot of crossing overs to other sports. As well as this, Nine didn’t show the Handball on FTA and I was bitterly annoyed.
Imagine if Seven had the NRL at that time, would Bruce have hosted that? I can’t imagine so.
Me either, but don’t forget then the Wallabies were seen as the national “footballl” side until the rise of the Socceroos when they made the WC in 2006. RU has always had a following on the southern states and is played in many of the private schools, more so than RL.
Correct me if I’m wrong but in 2006, what was the ratings like for the Wallabies matches on 7. (I would have thought that the ratings were 700k in 5-city metro)
