I’ve been looking, but I can’t find anything! One I’d like to see it the WWC final on the Fashion Channel.

Ended up finding it. It was t20s

Does anyone have any pics or clips of the 2001 AFL Grand Final studio? I’ve got the vhs of the match but there’s no studio stuff and I can’t seem to find much anywhere online.

I assume it was their FNF setup but not with any certainty.

Here is a promo from Southern Cross Tas promoting their sports weekend line up in 2007. I found it interesting that they used footage from Channel Nine and Fox Footy and did not just stick to Channel Ten footage in the promo.

Studio for their 2007 AFL Grand Final

I assume these studios are at the MCG? Interesting that they didn’t include the MCG in the background?

They also often had a portable studio in the mcg forecourt in those days.

Wow, those chairs. The '06 version in that studio looks far better/ more professional.

Seven’s commentary studio for the 2000 Grand Final

Found this video on youtube of highlights of 7’s coverage of the first test of Australia’s 1996/97 cricket tour of South Africa. Seems so weird seeing 7 doing cricket in the mid nineties but quite like the look of the set.

David Fordham and Craig McDermott doing the studio analysis.

I suspect 7 were taking the feed from SA, but had sent Commetti and Morphett to be part of the commentary team (just speculation on my part mind you). Also think I heard Greg Chappell at the beginning. A few others I can’t put a name to.

Also seems that only sessions 2 and 3 were shown on 7 going by some of Fordham’s comments from the studio. Maybe a deal similar to the '01 Ashes where the first session was exclusive to pay tv.

I know they also did Ashes in the early 2000s. Do we know what other cricket seven broadcasted?

Seven covered summer test cricket for a year or two in the 1970s

As far as I can remember the non 9 Aus international men broadcasts on FTA here between the 90’s and 9 losing home tests, have been:

Channel 7:

SA 96/97
Ashes 01 (Sessions 2 and 3, can’t remember if Limited Overs were included)
England 05 (LO only)

SBS:

Ashes 05
Ashes 09 (can’t remember if this included LO matches)

ABC:

03/04ish Top End Tours: Sundays when 9 had football commitments
89/93/97 Ashes: I think it was usually the one test where it clashed with 9’s Wimbledon commitments
Early 90’s NZ ODI series: Neville Oliver hosting (thanks @Frankie )

Channel 10:

95 Tour of the Windies. (Weird deal because Australis Media announced they had the rights. Nine were angry as they wanted them exclusively as per the anti-siphoning list. Government intervened and allowed a simulcast but 9 still wanted exclusive rights. They onsold their rights to 10.)

Probably others that I can’t remember. The other (non international) telecast that gets forgotten a bit is the IPL on 10/One for at least it’s first year (and probably a few after that). Think Ryan Campbell was involved relatively heavily in their studio coverage.

I thought fox/galaxy had it with the PSN. Premier sports network. David Hookes commentated and 10 just aired it on free to air.

Probably right, my memory isn’t great from back then :stuck_out_tongue:

EDIT: just found this

While compromises were offered by the Government, including allowing the simultaneous telecast on free-to-air and pay networks, the Nine Network refused to move from the position that it was entitled to exclusive rights to the events in question.[44] The impasse threatened telecast of the West Indies cricket series, until another free-to-air network, Ten, agreed to obtain the rights from Nine for a nominal fee. Ironically, around the same time the ABA declared that the timing of the rights purchase had been legitimate, which meant that Australis could have legally continued with its plans to cover the West Indies tour.[45]

There was also a one day series in New Zealand in the early 90s, Neville Oliver was hosting from the ground in NZ, there was some content online I shared here years ago but haven’t seen it for quite a while, may well be deleted.

I think there was also an ashes test in 1989, same reason as you described.
