Sunday 10 November 7.30pm

Adam, Myf and Alan are joined by Jude Perl, Joel Creasey, Johnny Took, Abbie Chatfield. Plus, western swing with the Canyon Callers and so many Secret Song clues with Brian Mannix. It was a bold producer booker who first booked him on a show!

This season’s secret songs seem super easy compared to previously - a couple seemed obvious within a couple of seconds of the first clue.

Mel Tracina posted on her Instagram this morning. She and Angie McMahon are on Team Alan.

ABC has been criticised by the Australian Jewish Association after Spicks & Specks last night featured a singer wearing a “Free Palestine” t-shirt.

Singer-songwriter Adrian Eagle performed the show’s “Secret Song” at the end of the episode, in which a song that has been the subject of clues, is performed as the closing number.

Last night “I Will Survive” was given a ballad rendition, in part reversioned with the words, “We Will Survive” along with a raised fist.

The inclusion of the Free Palestine t-shirt, recorded earlier this year, is likely to put the show on the agenda at the next Senate Estimates hearing in early November, when managing director David Anderson faces his next grilling.

Series 11, Episode 13

Sunday 17 November 7.30pm

This week there’s a lot to dig - Behani teaches Adam, Myf and Alan the Persian Snap, Tom Cardy dances to PSY, Brian Mannix regales with Countdown stories and Michala Banas tries to reach an invisible top shelf. And special guest Rebecca’s Empire plays the secret song.

Update:

The ABC Ombudsman has cleared Sunday’s episode of Spicks & Specks of breaching editorial standards after a performer wore a “Free Palestine” t-shirt.

The Office of ABC Ombudsman Fiona Cameron received 42 complaints following Sunday’s episode raising the following matters:

  • the artist’s t-shirt that said ‘Free Palestine’ was offensive to Jewish people and encouraged Antisemitism
  • the song performed was a political protest and was not appropriate in an entertainment program
  • the content indicated the ABC was biased against Israel.
