Space Invaders

Strange choice to replace Lucas Callaghan who isn’t returning. I would’ve thought Nine would’ve had someone from their stable like Shaynna Blaze or Shelley Craft to host something like this.

Angie would be much cheaper ‘talent’

Return Saturday 4 February 7:30 pm with new season and new host.

Ep 1: Bec & Julian

Aussie families are trapped in a clutter nightmare they’re desperate to escape. Declutter guru Peter Walsh, renovation queen Cherie Barber, and new treasure hunter Angie Kent transform people’s homes and lives.

Angie Kent joins as the treasure hunter, replacing Lucas Callaghan. Is this her first tv role outside the reality genre?

Episode 4 Celebrity Special

Saturday 25 February 7:30 pm

Kim

Bachelor stars Laura Byrne and Matty J call in the team to help Laura’s mum Kim, as her house is clogged with
clutter. Peter pushes them to move on, Cherie reinvents the family home, while Angie uncovers valuable treasures.

That’s funny when the “celebrities” are former reality show contestants who are being helped by a co-host who came from another reality show. Another case of television eating itself again.

And it’s not even a celebrity. It’s an ex-reality contestant’s mum who has literally no name recognition anywhere.

Really scraping the bottom of the barrel here for someone to qualify as a ‘celebrity’.

I notice Nine has decided not to show episode 8 altogether in Sydney, not even in its repeat timeslot of 2pm Sundays. That episode was skipped due to Nine’s NSW election coverage last night. However it is available on 9Now.

Appears that there will be a fourth season, and Nine are looking for “auditions” (aka applicants with some hoarding issues…).

I’ve watched a few episodes of this show. It’s pretty simple in style of renovations and “expert tips” of how to do declutter. Probably why it airs on a Saturday night…

The show doesn’t compare to American’s Hoarders that has aired here on SBS Viceland in recent times.

Not sure why Space Invaders can’t be shown on main channel in Sydney and Brisbane “after the rugby”? Now fans in both cities will have to catch up the episode either on 9Now, or wait until 3.30pm the next day (the regular Sunday encore timeslot) to see it.
I wonder if the show will again be pre-empted for Sydney and/or Brisbane viewers for Super Rugby matches, as the season progresses?

Although I do like watching Space Invaders, it is more of a “filler program” for Nine.

Could it have moved to 9Life while the Rugby is on in Sydney and Brisbane? Instead of showing us the repeat on Sunday afternoon?

I would suggest there’s much better audience flow from a Super Rugby match into a Martin Scorsese film than into a home-reno show.

Sydney and Brisbane will get the episode 4 (skipped in February due to Super Rugby) on Saturday, April 13, at 7.30pm.
