It wouldn’t be so bad if AM stereo was still around and had actually leveled the playing field with FM
Triple M Mid North Coast is live and local tonight. Coffs Harbour as far as I can tell is still on networked programming.
Gold 92.5 news reports
I recorded it. Will attempt to upload it later.
One station.
Three letters.
Twenty different formats.
I hope that SCA stick to radio. I am assuming if they bought the rights to Coca Cola in Australia - they would keep the branding - but it would be a different flavoured soft drink in each city and region.
Because of the bushfire emergency on the Mid North Coast, the Triple M program is being broadcast on Hit Port Macquarie for the time being.
Yes I heard a bit of that on the car radio here on Newcastle today. ID’d as “Triple M and Hit”. Heard a couple of Triple M sweepers on 102.3, and the music appears to be entirely from the Triple M log. Was nice hearing Creedence Clearwater Revival, Rolling Stones and Fleetwood Mac on 102.3, the latter’s “You Make Loving Fun” bringing back memories of ROX FM. I doubt the Mac would have been played on 102.3 since then.
And well done to SCA for being live and local during the bushfires.
And now playing the Beach Boys! Really emphasising the ‘Old School’ today
Good to see them pooling their resources - with only four(?) on-air presenters and the breakfast teams on until at least midnight last night, the playlist is (and should be) the last of their concerns.
This type of contribution from Bodge this morning is exactly what radio does well:
Can definitely remember ‘Seven Wonders’ played regularly in the early 00’s Starfm days.
Theyd probably be running out of the 2MC studio if they’re following the tripleM log with Hit taking a feed from it. I’d probably skip over the beach boys type tracks though in the interests of keeping the Hit people engaged.
Agreed. Good on them for staying live and taking action. SCA should be proud.
This is what happens when stations don’t have a full roster of local announcers, resources are spread thin and compromises made.
If there’s tapes of emergency broadcasting in the early to mid 90’s, you would’ve heard much less of this, then the beancounters increased their influence in the late 90’s and it’s been all down hill from there.
At least they remain local rather than the ABC way of announcers from distant markets filling in, but I’m sure that’s being considered.
Heartfelt, however I think radio announcers should be able to distinguish themselves from general conversation and make a persuasive point without swearing.
Song from Mulan? Did it chart well? The Disney movie?
I heard they would rebrand Coca Cola to Triple M? If they bought it.
Triple M Newcastle and Central Coast are not taking “Rock Song Dedications” tonight.
Not sure if it was on last night, or just because of the bushfire situation.
I did hear such an update on 107.7 but haven’t heard one on 102.9 yet.
It’s just been DJ free music otherwise, which both stations sharing the same log.
No MD in each station?
Due to airing updates, I can understand, but once upon a time, proudly one log from each for their station exclusively regardless of the emergency.
This is actually what happened.
Piv and myself were at MMM Newcastle doing 6pm to midnight, along with Chloe and Stephen and Maddy, Dan and Dave in the newsroom. I was there from 4pm, despite my family property almost being lost at Branxton whilst on air. It was stressful.
Browny was at MMM Gosford 6pm to midnight.
John was on Hit Newcastle.
We were live and local 24/7 yesterday. Breakfast teams came back and did 4-6pm.
Australia By Night went everywhere bar Newcastle and Gosford, including simulcasting on Hit Port Mac and Coffs whilst their teams had a break.
Paddy Gerrard took over at midnight along with Chloe and myself and went through to 5am.
I am super proud of our team - we pumped out excellent, accurate and concise information to our listeners right through.
Wow, that’s a great effort from your team! Well done!
Hope your property got saved @RabbitEars. Well done
thanks legends, a massive effort regionally by the whole team. I can’t praise Moffee, Whitey, AB, Ben, Pommy Rich, Bodge, Strawny and their mid-coast teams enough. They have gone beyond the call for well over a week now. Occasionally they have simulcast where necessary to get their teams some rest.
Newcastle escaped relatively unscathed except for a few hairy hours yesterday. My family’s property is ok, but it was within 100 metres of reaching the house. A lot of the fields are burned but that’s not a concern - it will come back eventually.
My friend’s house in Greta had her front welcome mat burned but her house is standing - can’t get closer than that.
Just as an addition to my post above - Paddy Gerrard, Chloe, Maddy and myself went through MMM Newcastle, MMM Gosford, MMM Port, MMM Coffs, Hit Port and Hit Coffs from midnight to 5am. Luke Bona went to the other stations in the network as per usual.
In regards to MDs and music logs - we simply ran the Rock Song Dedications/Australia By Night log locally as well.
Cheers guys!
Shock horror! So Rock Song Dedications are not live/actual dedications!? Haha
i wonder if a person rings in what happens. Are all the calls fake? I am not brave enough to try.
The few calls that do air are sure to be fake, as the announcer often mocks them.
