Southern Cross Austereo (Regional)

Yeah I guess these days radio announcer should not mock real callers like Stan did from time to time. Those days in radio are over. Although John Laws pushes the boundaries still.

I can’t help it - when I visit the Gold Coast and the now Australia-wide Triple M logo plastered in places like Surfers Paradise or Broadbeach it makes me sad. Regional radio has lost its ability to surprise and be original. The excitement of seeing those residential towers on the white beaches and listening to 4GG, 4GGG, KROQ or Stereo 10…it’s just not the same…now I get ready for a few beers at Kurrawa Surf Club or catch an Uber to Rick Shores in Burleigh Heads…and I am listening to one of the hundreds of Triple Ms that are scattered across the continent.

C’mon - this is my summer playground. It’s the Gold Coast and I really don’t want the same old Sydney shite during my escape.

It makes me worry that I will finally make it to heaven and that old orange Triple M logo will be be hanging off the pearly gates.

There’s always Hot Tomato.

Me too. Stay in one of the many Gold Coast suburbs without bus routes for outdoor or transit advertising featuring this marketing mistake and enhance your stay, MMM free.

Hopefully by then this laughable error will have been consigned to hell instead and you’ll not see that sight.

When on the GC it’s Radio Metro for me.

I did upload to soundcloud but forgot to mention. Try this link (it may be different for pc) https://m.soundcloud.com/user-993722383/sets/2go-triple-m-conversion

There should be 2 10min files. One is 7.50 - 8am, second is 8 - 8.10. Recorded off air 107.7

Have Triple M Classic Hit stations changed there playlist?, this morning I have heard them play songs like, Semi-Charmed Life by Third Eye Blind, Uptown Funk by Mark Ronson & I Will Wait by Mumford & Sons.

Looking at Lava, it does appear that Triple M’s Classic Hits stations are now taking the same log as heard in Hobart, Central Coast & Regional WA.

So there’s now only 2 logs across regional Triple Ms instead of 3?

Maybe it’s only for the summer period.

Actually, Triple M Gold Coast has a separate log from the network one on weekdays, so it’s 3 logs instead of 4.

Whole network is Triple M Rocks Summer and Triple M is Summer’s Greatest Hits. Metro and regional

Yes I heard that. I have not heard ā€œMusic That Feels Goodā€ all morning. The only problem is they are still using that horrible music format, which make no sense since they are using the Slogan ā€œTriple M Rocks Summerā€

This is a great achievement in Mackay:

Even better that they’ve stuck with the 5 - 9am slot. Nth Qld gets up early due to the humidity and early sunrise, this is the sensible time to be on air.

Great broadcasters, they’ve seen what Pricey does and tailored to their own format and own personalities.

Jay and Dave are probably my favourite announcers. I was in Mackay on contract about 4 years ago and found them back in the old Sea FM days. Have listened online most mornings ever since.

Hearing some news on the redundancies. Australia By Night with Stephen Cenatiempo has been axed, 90 jobs all up being cut

Really feeling for those at SCA who have lost their jobs. Some very dedicated people in their ranks. In recent times I’ve had the pleasure of working with one of those who has been made redundant. As they say, one door closes and another one opens.

I agree, I absolutely love these guys. :ok_hand:

I’ve noticed today that the regional Triple M stations are now using ā€œSummers Greatest Hitsā€ tag line, but still are using that jarring awful music format.
Today we were travelling up to Townsville and had a little listen to Triple M Mackay. First song we heard was Pore Some Sugar On Me by Def Leppard then followed by Love Is All Around by Wet Wet Wet, I’ve never seen so many hand reach for the radio before, so it was back to Star FM, then once we got near Townsville, Power 100.
