Southern Cross Austereo (Regional)

agreed. i remember when everything came out of the GC across the network. Do they even have a studio on theGC or do they work from home?

Yes there is a studio on the GC, that’s where Loues does the show from.

Who thought it was a good idea to network an interstate Brekky shoe to another state? At least keep it local and take it from Brisbane.

They probably don’t want to compromise the Brisbane (or other capital city) product to make it more generic/relevant to regional areas given the competition in those areas.

Would make it hard with the overlap of Brisbane and the gold coast.

WIll be fun during summer Daylight Savings.

Really? How distasteful. Axing three shows and announcing promotions for higher ups in the same release. :face_vomiting:

I couldn’t agree more. Especially given it was some of their own talent which got the arse.

This is getting beyond a joke.

If you can’t provide a credible local service, sell the license or get off the air. In most of these areas, they are the only commercial radio game in town and they’re taking the absolute piss out of it.

Absolutely hopeless. Just network out each states Metro show. Far easier to sell Fifi, Fev & Nick from Melbourne into regional VIC markets for example than what will have to be an uber generic show coming from Newcastle. You can’t cut your way to profit, but at least rationalise more sensibly.

Just when you think they don’t have anymore people left to sack they always seem to find people to give the arse to

Bloody disgrace, SCA has become the arsehole of the radio industry, I sure as hell wouldn’t want to work there, you wouldn’t never know from one day to the next if your given the arse before you have even made your morning coffee

I’ll be the contrarian here. Outside of the Gold Coast and Hobart (which I suspect will hurt badly by not even having a pseudo-local show in breakfast) there’s no reason why this would at all have a ratings impact. Done properly, a network show from Newcastle or Bunbury is in no way different from a network show from Hobart or Perth. Time will tell if it’s executed well.

Awful for the those involved, who through no fault of their own are thrown to the side all to save the arse of some jobs in television. Awful too for those ā€œpromotedā€ who are thrust into additional responsibilities, again through no fault of their own.

Jess and Rohan not on Hobart or Gold Coast this morning.

You’re right but I’ll be interested to hear the 7HO attack campaign in Hobart.

Disappointing that Hobart, a capital city can’t even have its own breakfast show.

With a new AFL team coming, that leaves one less station giving the new team coverage in prime time through content and activations, huge opportunity missed.

SCA are a joke.

Not yet but only a matter of time.

Exactly SCA are a disgrace hopefully there will be change for the better in the 17 commercial radio markets where they have to sell 17 stations.
