Its not often a hit song featuring two extremely well known solo artists is lost to radio, but this has been for nearly 40 years. I’d nearly forgotten about it too until the other day (somehow). I still like it though.

At 7:25am on Nova this morning: “Higher Power” by Coldplay.
A song Nova hadn’t played in quite some time. To be honest, I liked the music from that era, even if only four years ago when the station was regularly playing other emerging UK artists such as Tom Grennan, Griff and Mimi Webb.
Unfortunately, Nova never (or rarely ever) plays these type of artists these days, all they seem to be interested in are either the older artists or Taylor Swift.

I’ve heard that occasionally on Inphase (SWR 99.9) and I may have even played it.
Elton John has many songs that should have been smash hits, it’s just that there were too many good songs to choose from to select as the hits. Same with Billy Joel.

Just after 7:20am this morning I heard “Wings” by Little Mix on KIIS106.5.
Radio stations in Australia rarely play their music these days, though I recall Nova playing “Black Magic” recently.
On a side note, Leigh-Anne Pinnock has announced her debut album “My Ego Told Me So” will drop early next year. It’ll be accompanied by a European tour.

Basshunter’s “Now You’re Gone” is a good dance classic. Haven’t heard it on Australian radio in years.
7:55pm on C91.3FM this evening: “Heavy Cross” by Gossip. Peaked at number seven on the ARIA Singles Chart in 2009.

Sadly Cliff only gets airplay on certain stations. Funny you bring this one up. It’s one of my favourites of his. Interestingly it was one of a few that charted in the US.
I remember my primary school using this song on their gross motor tape. It’s stuck in my head for all these years.

9:30pm on C91.3 FM this evening: “Second Chance” by Shinedown. Hadn’t heard this song on radio in ages.
Released in September 2008, the song peaked within the top 20 in Australia in mid-2009.

I feel like the entire Janet Jackson catalogue is lost to radio? She had so many hits in the 80s, 90s AND 2000s but I don’t really hear them anymore outside of the community stations occasionally. This one in particular I definitely think has faded out of the consciousness. What a tune!!

So within minutes of reading your post I jumped in the car and 2 Janet Jackson songs were playing simultaneously on Heart Hits and Oldskool 80s
