Social Media

I hope the fail whale doesn’t meet the same fate - an X on its side just won’t really be the same.

Saw a post elsewhere that apparently Musk wanted to change PayPal to X years ago but not sure of how true and can’t actually be bothered looking for a link at the moment but take that with a grain of salt and I’m sure someone will confirm or deny soon!

Surprised no one here posted this one…

At this point Elon is making even Bob Shanks look like a genius by comparison.

The BBC is experimenting on hosting a Mastodon server for its services:

As the social media landscape ebbs and flows, the team at BBC Research & Development are researching social technologies and exploring possibilities for the BBC. One part of our work is to establish a BBC presence in the distributed collection of social networks known as the Fediverse, a collection of social media applications all linked together by common protocols. The most common software used in this area is Mastodon, a Twitter-like social networking service with around 2 million active monthly users. We are now running an experimental BBC Mastodon server at https://social.bbc where you can follow some of the BBC’s social media accounts, including BBC R&D, Radio 4 and 5 Live. We hope to be able to add more accounts from other areas of the BBC at some point.

As a fellow user, overwhelmed to see the Beeb moving on from Twitter/X!

I noticed this week X/Twitter had undergone another change. For each tweet the number of likes and retweets are shown in a separate heading called Post Engagements.

Twitter was already heading toward the bottom feed of the barrel with all the trump fanactics and their lies. I think Musk just made it stick . So predictions on when X formally known as twitter will actually shutdown ?

I think we always knew this was coming. Did they just decide well this is it? Or did someone buy it and then shut it down?

It’s the former. I think Omegle has never changed hands.
