smoothfm

During the traffic update at 10:00am this morning, the voiceover erroneously said “on Nova 96.9” before eventually correcting herself to “on smooth 95.3” a few seconds later.

I believe Nova and Smooth share the same offices in Sydney.

They are owned by the same company so they do share offices.

I don’t know if I missed the chatter on here, but ive been wondering where Nicole Gunn has been lately, as she hasnt been on breakfast with Mike Perso in Melbs.

Then I found this article :frowning: redundant!

Steve Blanda also leaving he was made redundant from 2UE before joining Nova very sad. Maybe he will retire this time?

I don’t mind the afternoon presenter here in Sydney. She is very good. However some of the news presenters on 2GB are pretty bad especially in the evenings. The only issue with Smooth’s news is not the presenters it is more the content. I am almost 100 per cent certain they use Nine Radio and probably their News Maker product to assist in producing their news bulletins as the script is word for word the same for many stories across multiple bulletins and in a metropolitan market that should not be allowed as you are not getting news from a different source.

Steve Blanda needs to move to Nine Radio.

Bogart Torelli and Ron Wilson talked them through their roles on Smooth Breakfast, with the students asking a wide range of questions about their on-air roles and enduring careers in radio.

Great timing. Celebrate the 12yrs - and what’s the bet we’ll hear about Chrissie Swan’s new show next month.

I hope not

I wonder if a national Ronan Keating / Chrissie Swan breakfast show is on the cards for Smooth?

I wouldn’t be surprised. Ronan’s got good form with the Magic FM breakfast show in London.

I hope not breakfast should be local and what’s wrong with Bogart at least here in Sydney. I doubt it would rate higher given the competition and they offer an alternative compared to the talk on the other stations which I happen to like

Yeah I prefer the more music breakfast, although I wouldn’t rule it out. I used to listen a bit to Ronan and Harriet on Magic breakfast and they still played quite a bit of music though. More than you get on Gold or WS.

Interesting article in the Fin Review saying Nine Radio considered beaming Smooth FM into Perth replacing 6PR. It might have been when they thought 6PR might have scored an FM conversion, but the article said they considered it on AM. I wonder if 4BH might have also been considered.

I reckon if the deal with 6PR had gone ahead that NE would have flipped 5AA to Smooth as well. They could actually complete the Smooth network with AM/DAB stations in Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth.

Smooth in the UK had several AM/DAB stations at one time, not sure if they still do or if the AM transmitters have been switched off.

They would just have to start ID’ing as Smooth Radio rather than Smooth FM, like they do in the UK.

Perhaps Nine might be thinking AM talk is only viable in Sydney and Melbourne, and maybe Brisbane (with 4BC).

I wish Melbourne would get a regular [and decent] newsreader again. The current batch are not great.
