Would be a return to 91.5 for her. She was a former breakfast co-host on Vega back then.

does Smooth do local breakfast shows there? (DAB)

Yes, local on DAB.

surprised they’d be making any money on those. Replacing with a “national” breakfast show would make sense.

Maybe she will be on the DAB stations both stations need to have 3 hours of local programming to be compliant with the law don’t they? Breakfast makes perfect sense to be local and to see Bogart go here in Sydney would be very sad she is excellent and been with the station for years I think she joined just after the change over? I think in general Smooth should be local more in Sydney and Melbourne outside of breakfast. Be local 6am to 6pm. But it would never happen.

i think that only applies to regional (analogue) radio?

Live and Local no longer make sense in today’s world. Especially overnights and weekends.

e.g. 2AY or 2WG being local at nights or weekends – c’mon!

Correct - there are no local content requirements for metro radio.

Why not team Mike Pesso with Chrissie Swan to Make The Feel Good Breakfast with Mike and Chrissie?

Not sure if Chrissie is a good fit for Smooth

I don’t particularly like Christie and I listen to smooth on the way to work because there’s very little talking. I’m not interested in breakfast show gibberish. Bogart Torrlli does a good job and they should leave well enough alone.

I agree. Losing Bogart/tweaking Sydney is a gamble. They’re onto a winner IMO.

I also agree that Chrissie isn’t the best fit, then again, I’ve never felt her to be a strong fit for Nova either. They need to skew younger, especially considering the ages of Ben, Liam & Belle.

I agree. I like Nick Michaels in Brisbane too, low key and lots of music.

Let’s hope they stick with it. We don’t need personalities and endless chit chat about irrelevant crap. Just back announce the tracks, update us on traffic and weather and move on. The odd update on what’s happening in the city at breakfast and that’s it.

“Chaos of daily life”? But they’re no longer an easy listening station…

That’s true. I struggle a bit with Smooth’s playlist these days. It’s not really easy listening. I don’t mind some upbeat songs at all, but the bigger problem for me is a lack of depth and variety. They used to play stuff from the 60s to current hits but now it seems just so narrow and 90s focused. There’s a real sameness to the music that wasn’t there before. They seem to only stick to the bigger hits now, with far fewer rare songs. In short I find it boring.

You can see a noticeable difference in music if you listen to the station in the evening after 8pm. I listen most afternoons from around 2pm and I would agree the music is quite repetitive but I would like them to also look at their ad breaks sometimes they are almost 5 minutes long and there is no need for such long ad breaks it benefits noone. If I ran the station it would be no more than 3 minutes at the top of the hour and at the half hour mark approx after playing5 to 10 songs in a row. I enjoy the music they play to the most part the 5 minute long ad breaks not so much.

the combo of a jukebox and pokies machine worked for commercial radio in 1984 in a world of AM and FM by themselves. In the age of the Internet, it no longer does. The jocks have to be Drake or Sklar format again.
