Owners prior to 2UE, Fairfax/Singo et al dismantled 2UE. Nine were not the owners then. Audience share of 2UE improved since Nineās acquisition and will continue with Ace.

Iāll be listening. I think the purpose is because of the soul genre Jimmy Barnes brings. I donāt think youāll see Triple M playing soul music. Great move.

Glenn Daniel was posthumously awarded Master of Screen and Broadcast at the annual graduation ceremony of Australian Film Television and Radio School in Sydney last Friday. He had been a guest and mentor at AFTRS since 1995.

Lovely honour. Iāve never met Glenn but I used to love listening to him on 2WS and more recently Smooth when I listened online. Loved his voice and I hear he was a lovely man too.

What other genre variants thatās not a generic 80s/90s hits would be possible for Smooth? They shut down the more modern sounding station, Smooth Chill (Koffee), in 2020.

Another possibility is that maybe Nova Ent could buy 6iX in Perth from Capital Radio Network after it converts to FM (depending on the final decision about the replanning of the Perth FM Band that is STILL yet to be decided on) & relaunch it as a Smooth station.

Gee I hope youāre right. I was thinking that with the demise of 4KQ I know have exact same number of commercial music stations in Brisbane as I had in 1985! And yet the population of Brisbane has actually doubled in that time.
Brisbane (and Perth) definitely need another FM music station, and Smooth would be perfect for both.

Wonders will never cease! Smooth FM Brisbane is actually promoting itself! Obviously it has something to do with 4KQās demise, but today there was a full page ad in the Sunday Mail for Smooth FM āBrisbaneās newest radio station, on digital radio, online and smart speakerā.

Smooth should not be calling it self Smooth FM in Brisbane/ Adelaide/Perth since its a DAB+ only station

Meh, thereās nothing to stop them calling it whatever they like really. They ID on air as āSmooth Brisbaneā anyway.
And a better tagline for SENQ would be āBrisbaneās newest lowest rating radio stationā.
