Sky News

Understandable as you can’t see the edit. Here it is below (a clear joke).

Hmm I was more talking about people using the words vile, nutjob etc.

I think I remember scum being used a few weeks ago too actually.

All just really unnecessary.

(Not attacking you D)

What words would you swap out to convey the same meaning (accurate description of the content other than comedy)?

Are you asking me specifically?

If you’d like, you did call them

Oh right lol sorry.

Well, my response to you is, do you have to call them names at all?

I’m sure you and others are intelligent enough to know that sinking to their level doesn’t make you any better than those you’re talking about.

You can express your opinions on those Sky presenters without name calling right?

For example: Sharri said ……(something offensive and outrageous)“wow. I really don’t agree with her. She says some dangerous things sometimes. This channel is just a platform for hatred”.

See. I’ve expressed my thoughts without calling her names.

No one said that you aren’t allowed to express that? If other’s were doing about silencing those who tell those who do speak out against Sky News to not too, I would also be defending those.

The point is, as @David has also pointed out, is that making personal attacks against any presenter is not okay. They aren’t the only one’s who come up with the views and opinions - they also follow instructions and directions from management and producers.

It’s fine to question an opinion, but calling people offensive terms means that people are stooping to the same level that Sky’s presenters sometimes go.

:100: - that has been demonstrated here before.

All good mate.

How’s that different?

I’m not attacking people (unless we’re counting labelling as attacking)?

Not my problem, they could just not spout it all and avoid what they deserve when they do.

I want to make it clear I don’t have a problem with JPA or David, we’re just debating a point.

It’s different because I didn’t call her personal labels such as vile and scum. I didn’t attack her personally.

Also, as I mentioned earlier, I was not talking about you when I said members were being offensive.

I’ll make another two points,

First of all, I think part of this all comes to what other’s may find offensive - sometimes people will tell other’s to stop attacking X, however, I then find myself confused because to me, what other’s have said is reasonable.

And another point, for example is, I don’t agree with everything that @David says, and I’m fairly sure he doesn’t agree with a lot of the stuff that I say - however, we still let each other have our say. Putting down other’s means that they feel less included, and more reluctant to post on the site.

Note - please don’t take this the wrong way @David, I was only trying to think of an example. I will remove if you find it offensive.

Oh absolutely fine. Your point is correct. We do debate a little here and there but neither of us get personal and call eachother names.

That’s in no way my intention, my only problem is supporting and disseminating dangerous and false “opinions”.

I also get that you weren’t calling me out on that, but seemingly others have (that’s not a knock on JPA btw).

I’m not calling you or others on here names though, just a hate filled public figure.

I know but why? It’s not necessary.

Putting an end to this on my end.

Just want to apologise to all for wasting your time tonight.

Again I want to reiterate I don’t have a problem with mods, David or JPA.

My problem is again with those who defend Sky and their hateful content. I just can’t fathom how someone could possibly defend that?

I had no intention of offending or otherwise.

The best thing to do (I find) is don’t read and especially don’t try and comment in these threads. It’s not worth the internal heartache for yourself.

I wouldn’t know anything about Markson or the terrible things she says and stands for except for what I read in this thread. So I just scroll and ignore.

With all due respect, I can see where you are coming from, however, it is still important that any content of a news or current affairs program be respectfully called out.

Again, not attacking you or anything, and I can see where you are coming from, but it is important that there is a diversity of views on the media.

With all due respect, you don’t need to comment on every comment posted in this forum. My message was to and for the way Foxy was feeling.
