Sky News UK

Yalda Hakim’s new programme, The World, starts January 22 at 9pm.

Meanwhile, former BBC World Service/News Channel presenter Gareth Barlow (who rose to internet fame after this blunder in August), is presenting Breakfast in a new set a week earlier. He’ll be the main anchor for the 6am hour, before joining Kay Burley for the rest.

Sky UK is still so dull to watch.

But there is no doubt GB News and Talk have motivated Sky to Strat trying new and different things.

There have been reactions all over their schedule

Competition is a good thing

GB News must be getting very close to a visual rebrand and overhaul in the months ahead. The Exec creative director they stole from talk tv (and before that GMB) has been there 6 months now. His work would be getting ready to start showing up on the screen in the months ahead I would imagine

He started Jan 1, after gardening leave and non-compete.

Ah wow interesting.

That’s an expensive 6 months for GB then!

Sky have really floundered in the breakfast timeslot since Eamonn Holmes left Sunrise, I can’t see this change making much of a difference

I do hope they ditch the padded cell feeling sets too

Keeping the breakfast name and not reverting to Sunrise is a bad move, BBC, GB all use breakfast name. It’s overused and doesn’t help tell you much about the show.

A first look at The World’s studio here:

Just one studio photo alone already blows the big, stupid, swirly BBC News offering out of water aesthetically.

Really? I think the cyan trim looks hideous.

That blue is a bit of a signature colour for Sky News - has real vibes of their mid 2000s studio look

Not a great start for Yalda…

Middle East Eye on X: "“How dare we have a conversation about trade when there are children right now being treated without anaesthetic.” Journalist Dr. Myriam Francois discusses the response to the Gaza war in an interview with Sky News, emphasising the need for a ceasefire. https://t.co/HBdnCoOH9z” / X (twitter.com)

I wouldn’t stay that really, I mean it seemed like for me to get a answer to expand upon the subject. They had someone else on the other side opposing so it seems reasonable to get them to articulate their postilion, on the subject by asking that sort of question.

It’s genuinely baffling to me that posters at Pres Cafe seem to like that set. It looks abysmal.

Nothing says a fresh, contemporary news channel like wood grain.

The sad thing is it’s a massive upgrade from the white void they had for their previous Breakfast set at their Westminster studio

Sky UK are obsessed with it. I’ll admit it looks nice and suits their vibe.

I met with an office fitout firm before Christmas who said unironically that the look is coming back into vogue :flushed:

It is temporary while they’re redoing the other side of the studio

I know, for which I can give it some grace but the praise seems very odd.
