Sky News Regional

Sky doesn’t produce local nightly free to air bulletin at this stage, unfair to compare to ABC state bulletins.

Sky doesn’t produce any news in primetime.

But the fact is ABC is incredibly popular across regional markets, unlike you are trying to lead us all to believe

You’re suggesting ABC is a marginal service and of marginal popularity in regional cities. It’s not. It’s more popular than 10, equally popular as in the bigger city markets and the news service at 7 actually indexes higher in regional markets.

The fact Sky News is EQUAL to ABC News and just .1% point below Peach, Life and Flickr says something about its popularity though

I’m comparing Sky to the ABC News Channel (formerly news 24), hopefully Sky will be on a free to air subchannel nationwide one day. How does Headline news do against News Breakfast?

Ok but you had said:

the only platform that ABC does well in the country is ABC Radio

Which is just not true. ABC beats 10. ABC Comedy beats 10Peach, 7Flix, 9Life and Sky News

ABC News is equal to Sky News…

So that statement is not correct.

Year to date - both Sky News and ABC News are at a 1.8% share across regional markets.

So Sky is not “incredibly popular” as you call it. Or at least they both are incredibly popular.

No one has ever seen ratings for Headline News, Sky and WIN have never issued any

Bit hard to compare, one offers independent unbiased news and analysis. The other offers the complete opposite with Sky’s 100% opinion offering of an evening. Even the variety of voices appears limited to.an infrequent viewer with the same guests appearing on different programmes throughout the week.

And as others have pointed out the vast majority of ABC News’ viewers are on the main channel so singling out the ratings of the news channel is a tad disingenuous.

That would be an interesting compassion, but it’s mostly straight news isn’t it? Not the opinion we see later in the day?

Again Sky and ABC offer different products, Sky’s resonates with different people, if you don’t like what Sky has to offer watch something else.

But SNoW is only at similar levels due to its performance in two markets whereas ABC gets reasonably consistent ratings across all the regional markets

I’ll run with YTD for this, but more detail is available from https://www.regionaltam.com.au/upload/weekly-reports/RegTAM-20200517-C3RegFTAShrCons.pdf

Market Reg (E. Coast) Queensland Northern NSW Southern NSW Victoria Tasmania Regional WA
ABC News 1.8 1.6 1.7 2.2 1.7 1.8 2.1
Sky News on WIN 1.8 2.7 2.3 0.8 1.2 0.9 0.4

Its interesting to note that ABC as a ‘network’ performs poorly in Regional Queensland in comparison to the other markets - 14.6 against 17.7 East Coast

Eden Monaro by election coverage

Do most Australians know where / what eden Monaro is? And why it’s important? I don’t. I feel the promo should explain this

I’ve never seen any clips of headline news - ever. Does anyone have any?

As a rolling news service does it use stories and conte t from win? Is it focused nationally or on WIN markets?

The electorate of Eden-Monaro is in Southern NSW, also part of WIN’s “home region” and probably the type of thing we should but won’t see special WIN News updates for on the night!

As for why this by-election is important/interesting, well being somewhere which was affected particularly badly by the Summer bushfires and more recently the pandemic (with the loss of tourism, etc.) for a start!

Hi all. What is the broadcast resolution of Sky News on Win? Is it in HD?

So why not explain that context in the promo ?
