Hasn’t looked decent in years, finally a welcome relief to the eyes. Decent content in the morning too, why don’t SNOW air First Edition instead of Headline News?? Makes no sense.
It is so dodgy but I don’t think they have a great relationship with SNAU anymore. However. You’d think they could get an accurate run sheet of breaks etc.
Think it might be the autocue scroller.
I think it might just be a computer mouse. Sky use autocues with a foot pedal, or at least they did - I recall a news anchor explaining they had slipped on the pedal and reached down to the floor to fix it one time, and there’s a YouTube clip of Peter van Onselen scrolling the autocue deliberately fast for co-host Kristina Keneally to read with nothing in his hands.
I doubt its a mouse, it appears to be network connected
A better montage from this morning’s first hour of AM Agenda of the elements in motion.
I also note the open reminds me of the elements of the NBC Look F package.
Finally a fresh look. The 5 minutes of sky news I watch every week, will be more easy on my eyes.
Wow that came out of the blue
Yeah, there’s some elements which don’t look right (eg; the full-screen dot point graphic and the coming up strap). However, this is the best Sky News has looked in years - it’s crazy how much better a news channel looks when it has decent graphics which don’t take up half the screen!
Thought it’s because Headline News is ‘tailored’ for SNOW/WIN (eg; there’s more focus on regional stories)
Perhaps but you’d think pulling limited resources into the one show made more sense. Plus airing it on WIN in regionals would make it more cost effective.
I think First Edition still uses Seven and Nine stories so they can’t air it on WIN.
I’m just glad this is the biggest change in the ticker for least a decade. Sky UK still has the old coverup though
The new logos for those who might need them:
The font they’ve used is a bit Prime7 News but other than that it looks very nice.
White/red is what Seven needs to be.
Font looks Roboto-ish (default Android typeface for the longest time).
Kenny Report:
Sorry but those presenters look/act like school students who have had the opportunity to use a real news set to do their reports.
I like the serif font they’ve chosen, it feels very France 24 which I really like. But they don’t seem to know where or when to use it and it doesn’t really compliment the Roboto-like font used everywhere else.
You can see the serif font is used mostly for short headlines on the ticker, or for actual headlines on the main super:
Should have just used the sky news uk an have that serif font compliment it appropriately
We’ll see tonight whether this is a trend but don’t like the inconsistency between The Kenny Report having new program bug but still using the old titles
