They’ve been giving Craig Kelly a decent platform to push ivermectin/hydroxychloroquine as a treatment unchecked
Yeah, go on champ. Defend Sky News. What a hero.
I was asking because I didn’t see the coverage and didn’t know. Relaxxxx.
And see post above.
just highlights the hypocrisy of the right. they want the ability to discriminate (see bakers and gay wedding cakes) and belive in letting the free market decide.
the free market and businesses have decied that what they are pouting is bull$**t so it gets pulled and all of a sudden it’s an attack on them
If you looked up hypocrisy in the dictionary, you’d find a logo of Sky News.
I applaud YouTube for having higher standards than our own broadcast regulators, who are consistently dropping the ball letting this toxic garbage go to air unchallenged. Their views are misleading at the best of times, factually incorrect the rest, and the bile they spew is not only dangerous but (in the case of COVID misinformation) endangering lives.
What a sad reflection of Australia’s media landscape that these hateful, conspiracy-fueled lunatics are given a national platform to broadcast their demented bile. They live in an alternate reality where the only “valid” opinions are those they declare acceptable, while attacking anyone who dares to hold an opinion even slightly left of centre. Yet they’ll still play the, “free speech is under attack!” card; the irony is rich.
I guess you’re only entitled to free speech if your political views are far right enough to make Goebbels blush.
Sky commentators all called out the protests as wrong and used quite stern words saying they’re doing more harm than good - they also heavily push the vaccine as our way out of this.
They also frequently call out the government on the vaccine stroll-out and how Australia is dead last in OECD And that’s not acceptable
They also call Into question the constant cost / benefit analysis of lockdowns 18 months into the pandemic - which honestly at this point is a conversation that needs to be had in Australia
That’s more than 7 and 9 News do - with their gimmick countdown clocks to border closures and scaremongering and sensational reporting complete with 3D google mapping of where 1 or 2 positive people drove across NSW as if the world is coming to an and. “Facts not fear” - when it’s pretty much all fear
I know lots of people hate Sky but they do have conversations that no other media outlets in Australia have. Questioning the government and analyzing the facts and holding the government responsible is an important role for the media. Blindly following the governments narrative which is pretty much what 7 and 9 do - is not what the media should be doing
Media should be ripping the government apart about where Australia is now and asking the questions
Don’t let your hate for sky cloud some things they actually do well.
Australia has so few media voices. nine, 7W, abc and Murdoch. I realize people hate Sky and Murdoch. But 4 is better than 3
For all the people who complain about Sky News, how many people have actually gone through the complaints process to bring it to the attention to the regulator?
We have a (broken) regulation system that limits the ability for the regulator to intervene without a complaint (which means having to complain to Sky News/Foxtel first)
Its clear that Sky aren’t concerned about any “cancel culture” efforts (pressuring advertisers, public pressure etc) directed their way
but finding the good sky do is like digging through my poo to find a piece of corn. sure it can be done, but it’s stinky and honestly not worth it
You haven’t watched the outsiders program. They still think Donald trump won the election.
There are a lot of deluded people who think he won or that it was stolen/rigged.
I’m the first to admit that I find anything after 6pm on Sky unwatchable, however I can draw the line between the news and their opinion.
I’ll say, the week that Dutton tried to knife Turnbull twice, I thought the Sky News (day) coverage was pretty damn good.
The one aspect that really helped Sky in that regard was the fact it was the Libs in turmoil that week, and Lib parliamentarians had a natural proclivity to leak info to Sky rather than the ABC, which meant the Sky coverage was very informed and up to date where as the ABC was caught behind.
I get Rudd has an axe to grind - but he’s contributed to this by failing to change the rules that allows the industry to be self-regulated.
Kevin Rudd is like a bad rat that just can’t shut up…. No one wants to hear about his little axe to grind. He’s not relevant anymore . Kevin either join sky news or retire into oblivion .
Think you might need to read the article a bit more closely.
Kevin needs a new hobby. His vendetta against Murdoch is becoming tiring.
Lmao why would he join the very thing he loathes?
Also hopefully he and Turnbull keeps giving. The pathetic Murdoch media has been given a free run for too long. They deserve to be criticized and taken a peg or two down.
Completely disagree. It’s refreshing having someone actually take charge of issues and hold people to account - not just Murdoch but his government in power too. Not enough of it happens from our current leaders or in our media.
Plus, he’s hardly pushing himself out there. Very easy to ignore if you disagree with him.
He had his time, including twice as PM where he was more than happy to toe the line. He should move on, I agree with Mullet.
