Well some Liberal MPs (and some from Labor) don’t want to go on those shows because they know they’ll get pitted on with an entire panel that whistle the same tune and they’ll get shouted down for having the different opinion. That’s what i have seen in recent years watching some ABC Current Affairs shows especially Q&A.

To bring it back to Sky, it would be good to see them attempt to get more Centre-Left/Left-Wingers onto the Panel for some of these shows otherwise they’ll end up no different to some ABC shows where almost all of the Panel whistle the same tune and agree with each other.

The problem is both ABC and Sky skew to different audiences. Whether it is a problem indeed, is a different story, might not be the market for two straight centre news services, hence both 24-hour newscasters with their slants.

Weird how Sky’s article doesn’t mention Hydroxychloroquine or Ivermectin

Nothing wrong with right wing or left wing views. It’s all part of a democracy.

The issue with Sky is the lies in regard to public health and other issues that they have had to settle out of court. We all know that Sky offered an apology for Alan’s recent talk with Craig Kelly.

I make this next comment with all due respect…but is Alan losing it a little bit?

He is university educated and no doubt trusts his own doctors in relation to his health problems. He seems a little confused with the medical advice in relation to his coverage of the pandemic. Almost obsessed with lies. It’s either for show and to play to the conspiracy theorists…or he is leaving the realm of reality .

In general or are they just scared of “Uncle Rupert”

In general - successive governments for some time now have favoured the media industry (as a whole) being self-regulated - a Government regulator only exists as a backstop (and a fairly useless one at that, issues that actually make it to ACMA take forever to be investigated and punishments are poor)

He’s playing to Sky’s audience. Sensationalism sells, even if it’s full of blatant lies.

Apparently, whilst Fox News in the US have been broadcasting anti-vax and COVID conspiracy theories, they have also instituted a requirement for employee vaccine passports

So why do they keep talking rubbish? Simple - it’s good for business.

Lies in regards to politics is one thing.

In relation to health advice? Dangerous. It could cost lives.

Since those guys like to pander to the mindless who lap this up, let them eat their own mud and see how that turns out.

What was the lies they had to settle in court?

Most recently they settled for lying about Sarah Hanson Young endangering her child by taking her to a protest or something. They defamed her.

It was her niece.

As someone who doesn’t have FOXTEL I have to ask what do they actually play during the day when they aren’t spreading their nonsensical dribble do they actually report news or do they have a bunch of daytime talking head shows who aren’t hosted by terrible people.

Allegedly news but even their straight news division is riddled with partisans. It’s getting worse.

And what are the health lies and disinformation they are broadcasting?

I enjoy sky’s opinion shows mostly and I’ve seen both credlin and Alan Jones rip into the protesters saying they are making things worse and should no protest, go home and get vaccinated.

They also are very pro vaccine.

So what’s the lies they are broadcasting?

Watch last weeks media watch they summarize the dangerous misinformation of Alan jones and his guest Craig Kelly.

When Alan Jones said it’s nothing more than a flu, which is a completely false statement. Also Craig Kelly and Jones pushing an agenda that apparently the vaccines are killing more than COVID.

Not to mention their blatant disregard of Climate Change as they absolutely don’t want their recipe to riches being taken away.

Just read the transcript.
Their thinking was not that different to how many people in the UK first interpreted the data / because at first glance a few weeks ago a chart came out from public health England showing more people were dying of delta who were vaccinated than unvaccinated

As it turned out it was not nearly that simple - and in fact in age groups 80+ where the deaths are almost everyone is vaccinated - so yes thats where the deaths will be

I even had to review the data and do some digging to work out what was happening

But yea you can’t go on the airwaves sprouting this stuff

In fact the conversation they should be having is “why are most delta deaths of vaccinated people?” / “oh because in the age groups that make up 99% of the deaths almost everyone is vaccinated”

They should explain the why
