Went to a wedding yesterday in the Tamar Valley near Launceston and then we had a pretty good view from our accommodation for the night. First photo was from 5:30 this morning and then the second from 7:30.

Snapped this one last night on a completely clear Christmas evening where we’re staying in Hobart. Had to wait for it to start to get dark enough and hope that the full moon wouldn’t get too far away from the trees.
They take the star on their Christmas Trees very seriously here!

Snapped this on my flight over Melbourne. We were still in the friendly smiles for a good hour as we had to wait until the storm had passed. We had already been running hour or so late due a passenger having a panic attack. She had decided to get off the plane as we were heading for the sun.
Basically we didn’t land in Melbourne to just after 3ish or so. All I know is that after an hour of circling in circles , I was glad to be had on the land.

I was working for 2NM and Power FM in 1996 when Singleton got smashed.
We got calls from panel beaters in Penrith wanting to advertise (drive down the Putty Road etc).
We quickly became full and couldn’t take any other advertising for several weeks. Was a nice boon for our commissions.
Driving past a local smash repair business yesterday morning around 10 and they already had 70-80 people in line giving out their details.

So outside of my life online here and everything else I love plane spotting - of course there’s not much to do around here of that but tomorrow my son and I are going to celebrate both our birthdays this year by going to Melbourne Airport for some plane spotting.
Not just that though, we’re doing some strategic flights too - Qantaslink are retiring their fleet of Boeing 717’s so we’re making sure we fly out on one of those tomorrow morning (going to have to leave our house at 4am to make it there in time) and then we’re flying back in the afternoon on Rex on the type of plane that I haven’t flown on for 25 years when Kendell Airlines used to exist along with Ansett.
Not only that, I chose the flight that isn’t direct - it goes to King Island first so we can both say that we’ve been to King Island… for 20 minutes.
So despite us being near Devonport Airport, we’ll be going nowhere near that and we’ll be going to Launceston, Melbourne, King Island and Burnie/Wynyard tomorrow. Going to be a long but great day!
My son wanted us to have t-shirts for the occasion and of course my daughter who isn’t coming didn’t want to miss out but she’s going to a pampering day at vacation care anyway.

Old mate - and about 20 of his mates - keeping an eye on me when I picked up a client at her farm in the Hunter Valley on Friday. Two were on her driveway and I had to ask them nicely to move.
