DST ended (in the states which observe it, of course) on April 1 last year.
Interesting to see that Nine have managed to hold on in Sydney despite Seven’s big win on Tuesday night + the 6.30pm portion of Wednesday. The last week before Easter non-ratings should be interesting.
First to Seven:
First win in Melbourne this year with the bulletin’s best result since June 2018.
Sydney had its best result since July 2018 with Adelaide and Perth also recording their best survey results for the year.
For Nine it was another win for Nine Brisbane with its best result since July 2018.
More needs to be done to improve the ratings of Seven News Sydney though.
Weather coverage and a better viewer competition seemed to help Seven during the 2nd half on Tuesday & Wednesday night (both networks had the same amount of viewers during the 1st half on the latter) but that wasn’t quite enough to get a weekly win over Nine. Of course Nine Sydney is probably helped to some extent by the NRL coverage in their news bulletins and on the network generally, but aside from that?
First week of Easter non-ratings period. Seven Melbourne picked up the 6.30 part of the news but was beaten across the hour. Narrow win for Seven Brisbane.
Back to official rating and Seven in the red in all markets except Sydney were the contest looks closer than usual. Seven scores its second win in Melbourne across the hour thanks to a better performing second 30 minutes. Nine Brisbane has a big win as Seven records its lowest result this survey.
Must’ve been because I was out of town from Monday to Thursday!
The ratings look particularly tight during the 6.30pm half compared to the first, we can all probably guess why that is especially with our dry April likely only increasing any interest that Sydneysiders already have in Seven’s weather coverage (when we finally might get some decent rain, etc)!
