Rod Young left for the 5.30pm Gold Coast bulletin (which he initially presented solo, but is now in a duo with Amanda Abate) in June 2016 - weekend editions of Seven News Queensland are solo-presented affairs with Kay McGrath these days.

Sevenās winning streak in Brisbane didnāt last long. Interesting to watch ratings next week without influence of Olympics.
How is 9 News Perth rating compared to this time last year?
Nine Perth:
2017:
Week 7 - 72,500
Week 8 - 72,500
2018:
Week 7 - 71,800
Week 8 - 67,400
Thanksā¦ might be worth keeping an eye on this to see if nine made the correct decision in the West.

At a time when ratings are usually increasing, thereās a lot of red on the table.

Seven News wins 6pm in Brisbane but unfortunately the viewers didnāt stick around for the full hour with Seven losing numbers across the hour and Nine rating higher in the second half every night.
Overall, numbers were generally down from last week. Melbourne however saw every bulletin up (after the reverse happened last week).

Which is what Iāve been saying for ages. The Chase is working as lead in, but H&A after isnāt working. Theyāre switching over for ACA during the second half.

Non ratings week.
7 News Brisbane doesnāt seem to have been adversely affected by the departure of Bill McDonald.
These things take timeā¦
What happened to him? (Havenāt watched 7 News in a long time)
His contract wasnāt renewed (except for some work during the Comm Games).

Non ratings week. Seven winning all markets except Sydney. Nine News smashed in Brisbane helped by two Comm Games competition days.
Credit to Seven News Melbourne, yes the Commonwealth Games and AFL may have helped, but the structure of the bulletin seem to be working down here. It comes down to reliability and constancy with the Melbourne audience. I would also go as far to say the set and presentation is playing a part.
Personally, I would expect to see Seven News Melbourne to continue steadily improving in the ratings possibly to the point that there will soon be Sunday night bulletins for Peter Hitchener, Tony Jones & Livinia Nixon.
Sydney is continuing to remain a real problem spot for Seven News - I feel like they could (and IMO, should) be outrating Nine by a higher margin during GC2018. Nine News even outrated Seven News in the Sydney market on Friday night!
Seven News has its best week in Melbourne, winning every night except Friday.

Back to rating this week. After winning the previous non-ratings week, Seven News Melbourne lost 42,000 viewers across the hour while Nine improved by 16,000 to win the week and maintain its unblemished record. Another big win for Seven in Brisbane - will it continue after the Games conclude?
Note: due to Today Tonight not airing in Adelaide and Perth, no winner is credited in those markets (and nationally) for the 6.30pm segment.
