Seven Tennis Coverage

I personally wouldn’t mind SBS, or even Channel Ten could make a play for the Wimbledon rights. Hopman Cup aside, Ten hasn’t really televised any major tennis events for the past 30-odd years.

If Nine picks up Wimbledon it will be similar to the Australian Open with matches streamed on 9Now.

If Nine regains Wimbledon rights it may not be able to show the next Ashes series in England, expected to be in 2023, since it’s most likely an Ashes test will coincide with the tennis.

Put both on each of their two HD channels. Shouldn’t be a problem?

For all we know, Nine might even be broadcasting more than two HD channels in four years time (really, in June 2015 did any of us think that we’d have both Nine and 9Gem in HD right now?)!

Maybe it could become Fox exclusive until the quarters then a simulcast with someone, like the other foreign Slams…

Why would you say that? That’s just speculation

It’s media spy, half the posts are a complete fabrication.

Could you post a photo of your whiteboard tally?

I would, but I lost count as the 348th post hypothesising whether Bruce Macaveny would call a match last week.

Wtf… the host said “let’s go to our callers roger Rasheed and Renee Stubbs” and then Todd Woodbridge and Sam Smith are the actual commentators.

maybe she was provided the wrong info on her script?

Rennae and Roger provided a pre-recorded preview package at the start of the coverage.

Are Todd Woodbridge and Sam Smith working as freelancers or for BBC? I thought they both moved to Nine when they picked up the Australian summer of tennis rights.

In related news, every Wimbledon match will be broadcast in HD on BBC for the first time ever, so hopefully Seven will be able to show more matches in HD here.

They’re working for the host broadcaster (Wimbledon Broadcast Services which is operated by the All England Club themselves)
