Video
that opener had to be made in PowerPoint…
First of the new TDT News updates I’ve seen just aired. Here’s some photos. A lot more comprehensive than the old ones but I only ever used to see them in the evening. Unfortunately I didn’t see the start but as mentioned elsewhere I’m thinking they didn’t have the Nine logo in them.
Same old shit, different colours.
I really don’t know where to begin complaining about how bad the “relaunched” SCA Local News Update On-Air Presentation is like…
The titlecard…THE TITLECARD!
Somewhat Ten-esque theme music on updates airing on what is supposed to be “the new Channel Nine” in Queensland, Southern NSW/ACT, Victoria and Tasmania.
Having “Sam Hunt” on the super when Aggie Bradshaw is presenting.
Queensland weather on a Canberra news update.
The use of standard Windows fonts (Arial and Verdana) on something that’s going out on broadcast TV.
Having the laptop in-shot and partially intruding over the footage of the presenter.
There’s probably more to complain about, but I think I’ve pretty much covered most of it.
Tim Hatfield filling in for North QLD updates. It’s a breath of fresh air having a competent presenter.
Aggie Bradshaw’s Linked In profile states that she presents at least 31 noodle updates each day.
On a good day that traslates to about 15 minutes to source stories, write script and film each bulletin (not sure if it’s up to her to edit it together or if that’s someone else) - so at that sort of rate it’s hardly surprising that the quality of what is presented isn’t the best and mistakes slip through.
I’m not sticking up for the quality of the bullentins, but it would seem that the staff are working bloody hard to deliver what they do - even just for the noodle updates they really need more resources to help deliver a product that isn’t the butt of all jokes.
Are they using the ABC’s Australia Votes logo?
not even close.
No wonder there’s such a turn over, can’t imagine that’s much fun!
You’re not wrong! Apart from just being a massive work load, it would also be pretty repetitive stuff.
I’ll say it again, for one of Australia’s largest media companies (SCA) now tied to the #1 network (in 25-54) based in the nation’s capital - the quality of the news SCA puts out is beyond pathetic.
The CEO reports revenue is already up 80% tying up with Nine. And this is the quality 7 million people get from Nine?
It’s really a joke.
The content, the talent, the graphics…

Hopefully it’s just a temporary thing until they launch their proper local news initiatives (with a lot of input and support from Nine!!).
Don’t expect too much from SCA so then you won’t be as disappointed.
Seriously, they have done a half-arsed effort as what WIN have done so far with their News.
Saw her for the first time last night, and she is the best SC News presenter I have seen. The others are shocking.
Sorry, my mistake. Just Googled Bradshaw and realised that isn’t her. Who is the older later (in her 50s) with blonde hair? She was on last night.
Ali Drower?

Ali Drower?
I think so. Some of the blokes aren’t bad but Sarah Bannerman (I think her name is) is soooo bad.
Ali Drower is the News Director for SCA and is probably the best presenter they have when she fills in sometimes. It’ll be interesting to see what comes of her current position come local news bulletins
And the typo for this edition (aside from the presenter’s name): “bellweather”
What’s the Regional Victoria presenter, Caitlin Knight, like? Is she good or is she terrible like Sarah Bannerman?
Caitlin is pretty good, one of the better presenters. She was previously with Prime7 News in Canberra and Nine Gold Coast News before that.
