Seven & Ten News (SCA)

Now with the Tasmanian based station about to get different ownership most likely from Monday will there be a name change for the Tasmanian news service immediately or over the course of time?

Hopefully immediately. I could imagine Seven doesn’t want to keep carrying an old heritage name like 7 Tasmania Nightly News. All bulletins nationwide are branded as 7NEWS, except for Tasmania.

Moving into new premises at Charles St Launceston would’ve allowed the whole month (plenty of time) to get the 7NEWS branding and colours ready to go in the Launceston studio come 1st July 2025 (that’s if the rebrand goes ahead as we’ve all heavily speculated it would on the day of ownership changeover).

Notice how there’s a fair bit of red in the background of this news update from last month? That’s a sign the bulletin is being rebranded come the new financial year, aka 1st July 2025. It’s inevitable.

It’s “inevitable”, but also an “if” because it’s heavy speculation, but also happening because there’s red backlighting?

Who knew a creative decision to make the edit suite look good on TV would lead to such theories?

Is there a chance the regional Network 10 (ex-SCA) stations’ 10 News First noodle updates will sport the rebrand to 10 News with a city name of sorts e.g: Ballarat or Wollongong, or will they continue to carry 10 News First branding for the time being?

If the 10 News First branding is still seen in the 3-agg Network 10 regional TV markets tomorrow, then it’s not necessarily Farewell 10 News First entirely yet.

It was a general farewell to the bulletin. There are still updates on 10 tonight as well.

Given that 10 apparently have full control over the regional updates, staff and Hobart studio, would it be better to move discussion to the main 10 News threads?

I expect the regionals to somehow still manage to slip up and air a 10 News First Local sting before the update by accident probably.

That title card will soon be very short-lived, given 10 News will soon take its place.

Given SCA’s sale (or pending sale) of its TV assets, discussion to be continued in new threads
